First, I must admit that I am already prejudiced against Burke for dealing the two first round picks of Kessel. So, my judgement may be clouded by my strong bias against dealing any high picks let alone two first rounders. But, I had an even a more terrible feeling coming out of last night's game. The Leafs could not protect a one goal lead against a pretty weak Montreal team. Schenn looked shaky, I am not sure what I think of Komisarek and Toskala, certainly, did not look elite. I start to worry and catastrophize the situation. I wonder if this team may be setting up to give Chiarelli a spectacular gift at next year's draft?

However, over the long haul of the season I do not believe the Leafs can be as weak as Montreal. Small forwards up front and not much team speed. Big slow D-men who really struggle with the puck. How do you end up with a slow small team in today's NHL? I am certain the Leafs will finish ahead of the Canadiens, but, will it be enough to justify Burke's strategy?.

Exactly...its not uncommon for players to experience some jitters when your first game of the season is a home game. I was definitely impressed with their speed and ability to create offense.

None of the Habs Dmen looked as bad as Schenn or Beauchemin yesterday.
Oh and by the way you can ask them about the lack of speed of guys like Cammalleri, Gionta or Plekanec. They might have another opinion on that matter.

Oh and you forgot to talk about our franchise player. Well, not the one that got injured and left in the middle of the game. The one who is in net. He might have something to do with our success this season.
Who is/are the Leafs' franchise player again?

You just proved that your opinion is irrelevant.

The Habs have a lot of speed up front, and some pretty big forwards like Latendresse, Moen, Laraque, Pacioretty and Lapierre.

You can't say the team is slow because of a few slow guys on defense. You can't say that the team is small because of a few small guys up front.

Besides, Gionta plays like a 6'2'' guy, and has always been succesful in this league. Where were your big tough guys on Gionta's goal?

Funny thing is, the Leafs need guys like Cammalieri, Gionta and Gomez real bad.

The leafs were all over the habs. if komisarek could have just held back on the agression abit, we could have won. he was going crazy last night.
i would not get to excited about ur small forwards hab fans. they have speed but so what, they could not do too much last night. our defense were pushing them around. beachemin made some dumb decisions but I think we are gonna be ok
We just need to play better D and finish our chances. We had altot of speed and had alot of chances but would just could not score. i like how komisarek was being physical but he has to keep it under control. stahlberg was good and i love the line of hagman and grabovski, they can shoot form anywhere they want.
