His performance in inception must be poope then because he overacted more than Shatner in Shutter Island.

The delivery was terrible. It was slow and obvious and the philosophical discussions sounded like they were written by a tenth grader who just picked up a book on Kant.

The only thing Shamalamadingdong ever showed us is that he got lucky with the Sixth sense (which was entirely about the plot twist).

I don't think the ''overacting'' matters. He's so good at what he does that he makes you believe him halfway through any movie. He's much more of a theatrical/classical actor than most of us are used to that he can come off as maybe awkward and unnatural at first but he makes up for it as the movie goes along (and not only in shutter island). I'll admit that if there was any weak part to this movie it may have been the script, but Scorsese and Dicaprio are good enough to overcome those kinds of things.

The delivery was slow, dramatic and methodical. That was kind of the point. To portray this character's descent into madness. I found the film to be incredibly intense and riveting, and you couldn't ask for a better filmmaker than Scorsese and a better actor than Leo to get that point across.

Really? Ok everyone shut up about it then. I'll go see it.

It's the type of movie that you think you have figured out, and then you think about it again once you get home and realize that during the excitement of the movie you overlooked smaller but important details. Like Vanilla Sky.

Isn't the plot of inception basically a guy who manipulates dreams and eventually you can't tell what is dream and what isn't?

No, the overacting was terrible and he is boring. He can't act. The delivery was slow but that wasn't intended. It was obviously inteded that the viewer be entertained by trying to figure out the mystery. Sadly a (frank)ing moron could figure it out by the preview alone.

If Ruffalo and DiCaprio switched roles, this movie would've been immediately improved.

Not poop, it was just designed in such a way that his acting and that of everyone else was almost secondary to the storyline and plot.

Nolan...the man is a genius.

I agree with your take on M.Night Chumbawumba though. 6th Sense sucked except for the twist, Signs was boring and predictable, The Village was absolute crap...no point going on really. Unbreakable was ok but could have been so much better. Most overrated director ever.

- sanfordnson

I'll admit Inception was one that didn't rely on acting but I still stress that he was great in Shutter Island. That film was all him and he made it work. If I had to make an early prediction I say he finally gets his oscar for Shutter Island.

M. Nyght has progressively gotten worse with every film he does. Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were great, Signs had a tremendous setup with a poop end, everything else is downhill. There's a director who has his flaws covered up by great actors. And the moment he starts casting poop ones, his flaws are exposed. Like in the Happening. He's good behind a camera, but he needs to stay away from scripts.

In all fairness, Dicaprio really was incredible in What's Eating Gilbert Grape?. Probably his best performance. His main problem is he keeps trying to take grittier, hard-bitten roles and he simply doesn't suit them.

You're right, they're both good but I don't know if they can hold a candle to Sly Stallone or John Travolta...you know, guys who really know how to handle a deep, complex character like Rambo or the thing from Battlefield Earth.

Yes, he should've gone out on a high note like Costanza and stopped acting in 1993.

The worst thing is that DeNiro has become too old to do Scorcese's movies now. A young DeNiro in shutter island or The Departed....that could've been awesome.
