I have teh Acer Liquid, and I've played around with my friends... I don't remember which one it is, but I know it's one of the top-of-the line models(cost her like $800)

I don';t even know what started it..Apple and Adobe worked really well together for a very long time.

Jobs says Flash wouldn't have worked on the iPhones, and that may have been true for the older models, but from the 3Gs onwards, it doesn't hold much water IMO.

Flash represents a long series of back doors into the function of the phone's OS that Apple didn't want to have exposed. Essentially, if you let something run flash you might as well make it open source, because it has numerous access points (it was designed to work across multiple platforms) and Apple no longer controls updates to the primary video player on the device. Apple is a bunch of control freaks, essentially.

Thing is, that might not be a bad thing when it comes to building mobile OS architecture.

I've tried the better ones. But in the end, you're kind of proving my point here... the fact that there is such a wide variety of droid phones means that they'll never be able to compete with the software of the iOS phones.

That's because you didn't understand what I said.

Having the different phones means they have to handicap themselves on the top-end to accommodate the bottom-tier, otherwise they risk alienating a lot of their users.

When it comes to technology, variety isn't a good thing, at all. It makes nightmares for developers. Hell you built what some might consider a website- any web designer knows exactly how infuriating it is to ensure your website will work across multiple platforms, with a variety of different browsers. The more variety you have in technology, the more likely it is to (frank) up. Thats why OSX is so much better than Windows, and why iOS devices dominate the mobile market.

And while I don't remember what the phones I've tried are called, I have tried a few, because a bunch of my friends hate apple, and have been trying to convince me that droid is better. The only pluses Android gets are the use of widgets in the home screen and the additional functionality of google maps. The susceptibility to malware from their own app store, the lower quality of apps, the lower quality of browser, and the unreliability of the OS("the phone application is not responding at this time"-wtf?) and the lower quality hardware kill it for me.
