Morgan Frost

Travis Konecny

Jett Luchanko

Starting to see what the issue is?
Especially for a kid like Jett who had big question marks about his offensive upside prior to the draft. There needs to be a sizable step forward taken and he hasn't taken it yet. |

Maybe he's not getting proper coaching like Ristolainen who was never properly coached until he came to the Flyers. - MJL
Wow, there's a shocker! You took a jab at Risto. 4 years and running....you are so innovative with your daily assessment of Risto. It's quite unhealthy to be overly obsessed with a 3rd pair mediocre D-man...at best. You really should find another hobby besides being a hater. Sabres forum now at 22 comments since 1/4....you should hop on there and give your insight as to why they are a superior team than the Flyers.

What is everyone complaining about? Luchenko has 23 points in 18 games. Thats over a point per game on a bad team. The leading OHL scorer is averaging 1.9 points per game and is 1 year older. Luchenko is 1.2 points per game. Im not seeing an issue.
We all should know the chances of him being a #1C are low. He is likely a #2 guy - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Well, Jett has to suck bc he was a Flyers pick. Buium is the next Bobby Orr!

You will find very few hockey scouts, virtually zero once you exclude the Flyers organization, that think Luchanko will be a better pro than Buium.
The Flyers brass always think they are the smartest guys in the room. How’s that worked out for them over the last decade? |

I hear you and you are probably right. I'm just hopeful that Jett turns out to be a great player for us in the future. I'm not a stepford fan...I just don't automatically hate on everything the Flyers do.

I'll temporarily suspend just to say, do you realize how really bad you are at this? How you embarrass yourself every day? I'm guessing no. Good luck

i dont' think those stats matter since frost is basically useless as a top 6 forward

Haha thanks for the kind words! I'm only on here 2-3 days a week, unlike you who spend your life on here. The best part is you read every post and keep a tally in your rolodex. I just don't like a bully and and a pompous know it all, and that's what you are. Keep up the great work! Goooo Sabres and BJs!!!

First round picks selected as high as Jett and coming out of the CHL for the most part have crazy stats in their draft+1 seasons. Jett's production has indeed ticked up a bit this season, but not to the dominant extent that most high picks in his position tend to produce at in their draft+1 campaigns. - Pixote Andolini
But the expectation of Jett is too high
Tippett had 74 points in 54 gams at 19 years old in the OHL. 1.37 PPG. He has turned out fine
Jack Quinn 89 points in 62 games at 18
Foerster 80 in 62 games.
There are plenty of guys who didnt have crazy numbers who have become good NHL players.
Examples of guys with Crazy numbers in the OHL are like Rossi, WyJo, Wright, J.Robertson ect. Luchenko has a very small chance to have that kind of ceiling.
Even if he was doing that well it means nothing. Frost had 109 points in 58 games and we've seen how he has developed. Bergeron came out of the QMHL and was barely a PPG player and he ended up as a #1C.
Juniors success doesnt mean as much as people make it out to be. Players succeed in juniors and bust in the NHL.

And what of the GMs who picked other players above Biuim? A guy so great surely doesnt drop to 12th. Five teams tool another Dman befoire Biuim. Either the draft has a ton of Top pair potential D or maybe Biuim simply isnt as good as people make him out to be.....

Tipp scored 36 goals in 50 games in his D+1 year. Guy just didn't many assists. (Also debatable if he turned out fine for where he was drafted. Lack of improvement in his goals from D to D+1 was a bit of foreshadowing)
Bergeron went straight to the NHL post-draft. Foerster and Quinn were in the AHL because of COVID.
Dunno why you brought any of those guys up.

There really aren't, especially for undersized players like Jett.

Of course.
Big junior scoring rates and/or D+1 improvement are no guarantee.
But they are more or less a prerequisite if a guy has any shot at being a major offensive contributor at the NHL level. |

You're completely missing the context of the conversation. We're not looking for Luchanko to be just a good NHL player. In the conversation, nobody has stated that he won't be a good NHL player. It's about the comparison to Buium and his projection and how he is progressing. Luchanko's current point production rate in his D+1 season doesn't suggest that he is going to be a high level NHL point producer. Luchanko was drafted 13th overall. Looking for more than just a good NHL player. Tippett was drafted 10th overall. I'd be looking for a lot more than just fine from a 10th overall pick. He's really disappointing in that regard and part of why Florida was willing to trade him for a rental.

Posting current NHL players full D+1 season stats compared to a guy who has played 18 games isn’t the burn you resident experts think it is. Go touch some grass, Jesus Christ. |

I personally think the Flyers drafted Luchanko for his speed, his 200 foot game and his intangibles. The Flyers as an organization continue to ridiculously overrate some values in a player. I just hope he becomes more than a faster, smaller Scott Laughton.

So D Barkey, seems he is on a tear, full disclosure I don’t follow the D1 scoring rates, how is his, does it bode well for him being a great pick? |

How has this been debunked? How would anyone really know at this point? What we do know is 10 teams passed on him…SJ did it twice. 5 other D went ahead of him. I was surprised the Flyers passed on him, but so did a bunch of other teams. |
