Jesus. Bunch of guys just didn’t feel like playing a game tonight? What set it off? Opening faceoff? - Chunk
No idea, probably something from the previous game. Everyone received game misconducts for being stupid. That is the best reason for just taking fighting out of the game. |

Don’t know, but 8 game misconducts, 4 for each side right after puck drop. The Devils are lucky that they dressed 7 Dmen, as three were done at the 0:02 mark of the first period. As soon as the wife gives up the bedroom tv(hopefully soon), I’m going back to watch. |

I don't ignore the data just put less weight on it, if any at all, for this Hawk squad. Comparing player fancies on the same squad will give one something to chew on but like my KK and Kaiser example that too adds context that chips away at the value of the fancies.
How bout Mrazak? If a NJ fan looked at his .907 SPG, and fancies too, and watched him a game or two there is no possible way to know how good he's been. IMO he's been about as good as most any goalie this yr but his stats won't, can't, show that.
I'm a believer in the fancies, in fact would say you can't fully understand the sport or players without them. But I'll always lean eye test which more times than not the fancies will support. - Mr Ricochet
Except they do. His GSAA and GA% are both very good which takes into account his numbers and workload vs the rest of the league. Sure you can put less weight on the fancies (actually I do as well), but I don't think it makes much sense to discount them just because the team is bad.

Lindstrom playing tonight for Medicine Hat. Not sure why he was scratched last game but is moving well tonight. Speed is impressive for such a big guy, had a big hit or two and some scoring chances. 2-2 late 3rd. |

The Hawks signed 2023 3rd round pick to a 3 year ELC with a $896,667 AAV.
Personally, I think that’s a massive overpayment. The term is ok, but I think an AAV of $875,000 would have been realistic. - DarthKane
Since Icehogs clinched for playoffs, the lightweight (171 pounds) Lardis can be signed to a PTO contract for playoffs? I know the roster must be set in advance but maybe that applies to profesdionsl players and a junior or college can be signed after their current team's season ends. |

No. Anyone drafted out of the CHL (QMJHL, OHL, WHL) has to stay in jrs thru their 20 yr old season unless they make the Big league roster.. Lardis either plays NHL or jrs next yr.
The following yr he's "free" to play anywhere he chooses, probably RKF.

Totem, he played Games 1 and 2 of this series, came out for warmups for Game 3 and was scratched afterwards......... Have you seen Medicine Hat live, Totem? If so have you noticed a kid plays for MH named Oasiz Wiesblatt? He was draft eligible last yr and went undrafted. Thick kid listed at 5ft 9in 185lb, kid is really stout, really stout, plays low and fast. I think he gets drafted this yr. He's a centerman, put up 91 pts and 95 PIM. 115 PIM last yr.. https://www.eliteprospect...er/562425/oasiz-wiesblatt
Watched the 1st period of Prince Goerge @ Spokane to see Catton. Kid has serious speed, quickness and hands. ..... Have seen at least parts of 6ish series of the OHL and WHL playoffs and the PG-Spokane series is the fastest most skilled hockey of them all so far. Some serious hockey being played between these two clubs.

Dominic Basse, Hawks goalie prospect, is transferring to St. Cloud State for his 5th year of college hockey. Hawks have to sign him by this August 15th. I wonder if the Hawks do sign him knowing that he can play in college next season and his pro career won't start until 2025-26. That would avoid a log jam in the minors since Commesso and Stauber will probably be between the pipes in Rockford. |

If he's playing in college next year, he can't sign a contract with the Hawks I don't think. NCAA doesn't allow it. If he signs, he has to be in their system. |

He keeps transferring because he isn't the #1 goalie on whatever team he plays for. I don't see KD using a contract space on him,

Correcton to my original post: He is transferring from St. Cloud State to St. Lawrence. Capfriendly has his sign by date as Aug 15, 2024. Maybe that will change since he will still be playing in college next year.

Not hockey related but troubled Franchise related:
Ahead of their eventual move to Las Vegas, the Athletics are moving the team out of Oakland next season. But they’re not heading to Vegas right away. Instead, they’ll reportedly move the team north to Sacramento to play for at least three years with an option for a fourth year. |

Over the course of five years, Oakland has lost three professional sports clubs. Maybe they should take a look at what they are doing over there and adjust... |

This is a clip of Roman and his go get the puck mentality. Reichel needs to watch this, he's doing better but he really needs to be tenacious. I always get a kick out of Bedard checking his opponent all over the ice, it's nice to see a player of his caliber playing that way.
The way i understand it, Lardis, Moore, Nazar and many more of KDs prospects have this mentality. Can't wait to see those players start working their way up the ranks. |

I don't either, but at the same time i think Mintyukov is a minus player as well. I think its good to compare 19 year olds on bad teams. I also think he has a better defensive partner than KK and they definetly have better top 6 talent compared to us. I think that all factors in.
I would really like to see KKs numbers from when he was playing station to station to when he started flowing in the defensive zone, i imagine his numbers look much better now then they did then.
Vlasic s card looks real nice for the fancy stat people.

I like the adjustment they made regarding the Raiders and The A's which was not to get rolled over a barrel like so many other cities do just to keep a "job creating" team in town. The people of Oakland want tax dollars spent on police and housing solutions.
Not sure what went down with the Warriors. The Chase center is supposed to be incredible and it's just across the Bay from the old stadium. |
