Unibroue 17 Grande Reserve and Fullers Vintage Ale is out now. Tried to horde as many as I could but there were so many! I'll pick up more later too. You can cellar them so no worries there. They'll actually improve over 3-4 years.

Picked up basically the entire current LCBO lineup of Belgian ales too. No Bernardus yet though. I'm in heaven.

I'm in the middle of one of these. I'm struggling through it. It has a nice apricot smell and initially tastes a bit fruity with some wheat maltiness but it quickly transitions to a metallic water taste with some light bitterness. Tastes so artificial

Recent purchases:

The Les Trois Mousquetaires baltic porter is heavenly. I heard it was good but holy crap. The others are really good too (had them before), but I haven't had the Dominus Triple yet. It's supposedly very tasty even though it looks like it's someone's homebrew project based on the inkjet printer quality label.

The dubbel is definitely very good. The gift pack I bought came with the brune (dubbel), blond, triple, and a nice glass.

edit: The picture I posted looks like it's probably an ad for the gift pack. It's exactly what I got.

Does it taste any different over there? I'd be in beer heaven if I ever went there.

I like almost every style of beer really. Out of habit I seem to have certain styles more often depending on the season though. In the winter I tend to have more abbey style ales, porters, and the typical winter warmers. In the summer I go on hop binges with wheat beers and good lagers mixed in.

see i hate hoppy beers, so belgian and german beers are my jam

i can't even put into words how awesome it was to drink amazing belgian beers on the cheap when i was over there. we would drink all evening and then be flabbergasted when we couldn't use a credit card because it was a 15 euro minimum. this would be after trying every beer on their menu that we had never even heard of for like 2 or 3 hours.

also it is freakin beautiful and i can't wait to get back. belgium rules.

Well, I do like wine

Actually I found food in Italy to be somewhat disappointing, especially in tourist areas.

Best food I had in Europe was in Normandy. Amazing mussels.

They make lots of barley wines and sour ale type stuff in Italy I think. There's one called Panil Sour or similar (don't remember, sorry) at the LCBO that I got in the spring that was actually pretty good if you like that sort of thing. It tasted a bit like cherries, but sour and a little "off" which is what it's supposed to taste like.

It cost around $15 or something insane if I remember correctly.
