clown shoes the barista (brown ale with espresso)

i know that a good brown ale is hard to find. this one's okay, i guess. i feel like there's coffee, brown sugar, chocolate, and vanilla going on. but again, it's just a little too much somehow. too in your face. it smells fantastic though. 8% and drinks bigger again, not smaller. i guess i'd rather these flavors just be in a porter or a stout where there's a smoother, creamier thing going on.

i'll drink it. but it's a once per winter thing. maybe out by a firepit or some poop. i wouldn't buy a 6 pack of this for my fridge.

awesome artwork on this one. the barista is working behind the counter. she's dressed in her apron and uniform but she has huge, hawk-like wings on her back (and clown shoes on her feet). she seems pretty unassuming about the whole thing and possibly even unaware of her huge, hawk-like wings. the picture has incredible detail including customers and a menu on the chalkboard in the background.

clown shoes the exorcist dry hopped stout

ding ding. this is the the one. i had to save one that sounded like it might be good for later on, right? so i pushed this stout to the back and tried not to think about it while i struggled through doughey malt bombs and flowery perfume beers.

anyway, i knew as soon as it started hitting the glass that this had a real real good chance of being a real real good beer. it's as black as ink and the coffee smell was amazing (intoxicating, if you will). you know we have this melitta coffee building in cherry hill, nj and when you drive by that exit on rt. 295 you actually smell the coffee super strong and it gets all up in your sinuses and poop. it's like that. and then you notice the dark chocolate thingy that's going on and you're pretty excited.

it's deliciously bitter coffee/chocolate and it has a real intense kind of creamy carbonation going on. this is by far my favorite, obviously. 8 well hidden %.

here, the artwork is of a man fighting off many devils in what looks like a forest in hell. it's a swamp thing style kind of thing.

it sho am pretty but it isn't for me.

too high abv, doesn't taste like ipa to me, heavy and weird. something floral may have been going on and i don't like that.

i looked at reviews and it's apparently a much loved beer. but it's 12% and maybe it's just for people who like that kind of thing.

clown shoes clementine white ale

i knew it was gonna be a problem. white ale. it's just another style i never seem to like. i knew by the smell this was going to fit the description i already had in my head. and it did. i can't really describe what it is that i don't like about these and i dumped this after one sip so it's bad enough that i couldn't even take any more sips to experiment with it. is it soury? flowery? what ever it is, i don't like it.

the artwork was simple this time. a very nice clementine tree standing in the middle of some peaceful rolling hills. it's got tons of clementines hanging from it and also a pair of clown shoes hanging by the laces.

clown shoes one man holiday

belgian style quadrupel ale.

you know i had to dump this one. i did take a sip though. like sour dough infused white wine. old too. like expired sourdough infused white wine.

anyway, this was the last advent beer. this is the one you were expected to drink on christmas day. just in case you want that day ruined for some reason.

cool can with an acid trip kind of dream scene with all the popular fictional holiday characters involved.

the kane head highs were from there.

there actually is a chalkboard with good beers listed but the clientele isn't interested in anything but miller/coors light and they'd have to be able to read to know what was written on the chalkboard anyway.
