so also, just like i promised, i bought that brewdog variety pack again so i can review them properly. also it'll be fun (to me anyway) to see how different my impressions are a few weeks later.

i started with the one i remember liking the least, tangerine dream (okay, it's clockwork tangerine).

i don't remember what my impression of it was before but it's big smell/small taste right now. its bark is way better than its bite.

after drinking the flying fish beer, this is pretty much water. grapefruit seltzer, really. there's not really much beer taste to me. how is it an ipa? there aren't any hops at all. it's just really boring.

it's easy to drink, i guess. which is the only silver lining i can find in the fact that i have 2 more of these in my fridge.

okay, the brewdog punk ipa.

it's okay. it's very drinkable. it was gone in like 4 or 5 minutes and i didn't even notice it.

but that may be a double edged sword because i'm not sure i noticed anything about it. it was just kind of unremarkable. i feel like i could drink 40 of these. i checked to see if it was 4.5% like the tangerine one or something but it's a more normal 5.6%.

i'm starting to wonder if the deal with brewdog is that their beers are good enough to keep the lights on with the proceeds but none of them have any real standout characteristics. the word unremarkable has popped in my head while drinking both of these brewdog beers so far.

don't get me wrong. it's good and i'll finish these punk IPAs happily but there are so many better IPAs in any liquor store that i can't imagine ever picking it up if i ever saw a 6 pack.

it's fine.

hazy jane.

i feel like i rated this as 2nd best last time but it's now striking me as a bit of a try hard. it wants to be hazy and it is but it all feels forced because it tastes forced. it's basically the last beer i tried made to taste sort of dank and with more abv.

it smelled kind of fruity and like a damp forest. but it also smelled kind of vegetable-y, which is a first for me. like V8 or campbell's tomato soup or something came to mind. i prayed to a jesus i don't even believe in that this wouldn't be present in the taste.

like i said, the taste is hazy beer material only more dank than citrusy.

i don't know. i guess it would depend on the mood i'm in but i feel like the hierarchy has changed since last time i drank these beers. i think i'd reach for the punk ipa before this even though this has more character.

elvis juice

iirc, i said this was the best one last time. (frank) that. i must have really gotten drunk that day.

i saved this one for last. i looked forward to it. but it's wayyy too fake. this tastes like a fruit-added beer. like where they add juice to it or something (frank)ed up. if that's what they did, i'll admit they did it well, but it still doesn't taste like beer to me. being the best fruit-added beer is like being the tallest midget at the freak show.

i'm gonna keep drinking like the addict that i am, so i reserve the right to change this, but right now my new orderâ„¢ here is punk ipa, hazy jane, elvis juice, cockwork tangerine.

the cherry on top of all this bullpoop is that i just poured another flying fish xpa, a beer that i sheepishly categorized as "solid", and it's so much more of a beer than anything i've had from that brewdog variety pack.

so i feel like the experiment went okay. i got to get drunk and we have a definitive answer on brewdog beers: they're fine to drink at a party where the host provided them but don't buy these with your own money, which i've done twice now.

7 to 8 on any night sounds like a questionable idea
