i feel like i can speak a little more clearly on te bbeers now.

the brewdog thing was a variety pack. i'd never heard of the brewery. they were almost all pretty good. the outlier was the tangerine one. it wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as the rest. it felt like i was drinking a spritzer or some poop compared to the rest. i admit that i'd been drinking for days at this point and my judgement may have been clouded so i'll probably try these again sometime so i know for sure. i'll report back if i was way off on the tangerine one or any of them i guess.

i think my order would be elvis juice, hazy jane, punk, clockwork tangerine.

the double nickel one is just another really solid beer from this weird brewery in penn(frank)ingsauken, nj of all places. fruity and crisp. i had to drink it from the can but i feel like this is one of those cloudy ones.

i'd drink them all again so i feel like it was a pretty successful labor day weekend or whatever this was.

so the entire time i was drinking these i was having this deja vu about how cool the can is. it turns out can o bliss is a series and i drank the "hazy" one a few weeks ago (see page 517!).

this is the citrus one though. it's brand new. and it may be something for those of you who read me going on and on about how much i love citrusy ipas but you want a manlier abv than the pussified 5.5 or 6 that i usually like to keep it around. well this is a solid enough 7.2% and it's really good.

my beloved citra hop is involved but i think there are 3 others (and if iirc, one of them was just called "experimental hop #whatever", so that's always exciting). it's also got that nice hop snappiness to it that i like (it was canned like 35 days ago so i'm sure that helped).

it's no pseudo sue, but it's a good juicy ipa. it would be even better to me if it was just a little lower abv but that's totally just me. i think a lot of people are gonna love this beer and i think they should.

sierra nevada hazy little thing ipa

now i know i did this one in the spring sometime but i was at a party and i only had one in the middle of a bunch of other beers and i don't remember how it even went.

i know i see it in every store and haven't picked up a six pack and that had me thinking that, subconsciously, maybe i knew i wasn't crazy about it or something. anyway, today i found myself in the overpriced liquor store just to see the remodel and..

their selection has dwindled (at least for right now, the remodel doesn't look finished) and i couldn't find anything new or anything really interesting so i decided to give it a go.

it's kind of what i was afraid of. it's good. it's fine. but it's not great.

it's hazy, that's true. and it smells great, that's true too. but it's got that little bit of.. i don't know how to word it.. some beers have it and others don't but it's just a taste i don't necessarily love. or a feeling, maybe. maybe it's a heaviness that i don't like in my yellow beers. i like them light and crisp with hops that pop you in the mouth. maybe that's it, maybe it's heavier than i want.

anyway, it's okay and all but i feel like i'd just reach for their standard pale ale if both were in front of me.

also, what kinds of things do you guys keep in your freezer?

like a moron, i keep telling you guys i don't really like flying fish beers that much and then trying another flying fish beer hoping this is the one.

habsolute full disclosure, there just wasn't anything new and interesting looking in my liquor store and i settled on this last second. as a matter of fact i had lagunitas ipa in my hand and put it back and switched when i couldn't find a date on it and then realized this XPA stuff had my beloved citra hop involved.

anyway, this is probably their most drinkable beer. way more flavorful than i expected. good hop and citrus tastes. neither taste is tippy top notch but both are present and pretty pleasing. good refreshing beer. i haven't had them in the house that long and i've already had 2 so how bad can it be?

it's not some great revelation or anything but it's a good solid beer and something to keep in mind when we all hop in the KIA and visit the brewery.
