so i found myself at ott's again tonight and it's a pretty quickly revolving beer menu there. i didn't know what to do so i tried Pipeworks Brewing's Velocity of Light and boy did i luck into a delicious (frank)ing beer. it's hazy AF and it's exactly what you want from a new england type of ipa. bitter and full of hops.

delicious. like an 8.70 out of 10.

after a few of those i switched over to a stout from Maine Brewery since i love stouts and i love that brewery. it was called Mean Old Tom. now there was a floraly kind of thing overpowering it and i think it was just a dirty glass that had black sambuca in it before me or something but i was thrown off and couldn't enjoy it so i can't really rate this one.

however, i eventually tried a stout that i was initially afraid of because it said it had coconut in it. it was called Alesmith Hawaiian Speedway. but i didn't taste any coconut. i tasted coffee and dark chocolate and it was to die for. probably 8.25.

later on we retired to a friend's apartment and they remembered how much i loved Cigar City's Guayabera and Dogfish Head's Liquid Truth Serum so they had both in the fridge waiting for me. what great friends. it just goes to show you what kind of rewards can be waiting for you if you're nice to people. they stock their fridges with your favorite beer.

anyway, that's all i have for the beer thread for now.

bye bye for now.

i mean i can be a Richard if i have to be but for the most part i'm apparently too nice. according to everybody else i'm "too nice for my own good" but i just figure if people are nice to you why not be nice to them? i'd have probably made a good hippie but i like to wear deodorant and stuff.

not good. not only did i not taste any of the flavors they talk about on the label, i didn't taste much of anything. and what i did taste reminded me of like an expired amstel light or something. the aftertaste was straight aids.

put it this way, my previous beer was a sam adams new england ipa and it blew this away.

guys, it's about tonewood fuego.

i reviewed it months ago and then read real reviews online and people were gushing about it a lot more than i was. i really like the tonewood freshies so how can this possibly be? maybe i just had a bad batch? why does everyone say it's dank and juicy when all i get is dank and not the good kind of dank? i figured i'd answer all these questions and more with another 6 pack but all it did was reinforce my feelings on tonewood fuego. it's not my favorite beer.

it drinks heavy if that makes sense. and there's no juiciness to it at all. like none. i don't get one trace of citrus or pineapple or anything that i'd normally associate with a "juicy" beer.

the fuego is a lie.
