why are these currently available
- -davies-

Because all seasonal beer is always available a season early, but not in the season it's meant for.

Pumpkin Beer is on our shelves around here currently... and FWIW; Bonefish Grille just this past Thursday added the Samuel Adams Oktoberfest as their Seasonal, which is in tune with the one Season early information provided us by Shvingter88.

bottled and canned beer tasting different is a myth. as long as they are brewed at the same place and canned/bottled at the same time at least.

i'm not sure i'd want to age a beer in a can though, i worry about the lining (BPA). i'd need to read up on actual studies before considering it.

i am generally anti-can.

but recently i have bought some hipster beer in cans and it actually didn't bother me.

i think i saw you mention before that you prefer your soda from a can though and i am with you there. there's nothing like a cold can of pepsi throwback.

Thanks for that... I've only had one can of beer since the 'new' rejuvenation of the Distribution Method, and that was not a good indication since it was a beer I never had before and had nothing to compare.

I only remember from way back in the day when it was the norm, and actually cans ruled... I do remember, in my mind at least, that I found the can and the bottle to be different... I seem to recall different carbonation taste/feel and even at times a metal taste -- It's funny but I like soda in cans better but beer in bottle better -- It all might have been due to the Brands and their quality... remember there were no Craft Beer back then and the better Brands, many imports, only came in bottles or Drought... and the age of the beer hanging around might have come into play.

When I first read about the Cans coming back... and Sierra Nevada having them... I immediately thought back and pooh-poohed the idea... Since first hearing about it I learned that quality Crafts were being distributed that way... but I haven't had the opportunity, except for the one Hell Or High Watermelon can.

I can now say that I'm open for trying but will not go out of the way to do so, and will probably when given the choice fall back to bottles... when I'm faced with no option I will of course buy cans... and hope that mentally I don't prejudge the experience... Anyway, I was interested to learn the thought from those who have had the cans, and actually knew what they were talking about.

... Sorry for the length of this... Any and all here may please feel free to not read this due to the length.

we're not really fat.

if we were fat we'd be moderating the site and i'd ban crims for 4 hours every 4 hours.

Cans are basically mini kegs lol. They actually prevent light damage to beer and they get cold faster so in some ways they are superior to bottles. Oxygen also can't enter a sealed can so there's less risk of that spoiling your beer too. They'd actually be perfect for aging beer in because of that if the lining wasn't a potential health concern when stored long-term.

Brew date and how a beer has been stored are probably the biggest factors when it comes to flavour inconsistencies. Can vs bottle is a non issue. Just get whatever you prefer/whatever is cheaper.
