Do you know someone there? As it is impossible to get a table in any of the tents, without a reservation, and you can't get served unless your seated at a table.

just go to germany not during octoberfest and enjoy amazing beers in peace and quiet instead of with thousands of americans

You need to be a group of at least 10 to reserve a table. I'll be alone with the GF, and I read that it's really not that bad when you're only 2 or 3.

Aye. Also profess love for whatever soccer club is in that region.

All hail Bayern Munchen!

That's a good point..........but Oktoberfest is worth the visit. Spent many years living in Germany, but never went to Oktoberfest until going back on Vacations a few times.

I plan on going back another time, but couldn't pass on this opportunity to check this off my bucketlist. We're staying there 1½ day, will be more than enough

Good luck, I was there with a couple of buddies back in the 90's and walked around for an hour or two until some of the tables opened up outside the tents, before we could get served.

We meet a couple of German girls (from Munchen) earlier in Italy, and the following year arranged to meet up with them, for Oktoberfest, and they reserved a table for us.....much better sitting inside the tents.

You'll be able to get into the beer halls downtown with no problem, as everyone's at the Oktoberfest....so that's an option. Yes the Hofbrau is the most popular and caters to tourists, but the beer and especially the food there is great.

Sounds like you haven't had good mead.

I've had it a few times, always from some hippie who swore it would change the way I thought about it.

Nope.

I jk. You should be a vodka expert by now, given your location.

I can tell you what is garbage made in my friend Constantines back yard vs Dovgan Ultra Pure. That's about it.

tastes like a.. neutral spirit

This is how I picture every review to be if there's a ratebeer equivalent for vodka.

Yeah as are dopplebocks, schwarzbiers, and lots of other beers I like.

I was specifically referring to pale lagers though, the beers you typically think of when you say "lager". There are some that kind of go outside of the style and are still flavourful but that's kind of cheating lol.

Can't wait to taste "real" Czech pilsners in Prague.

Ok you can (frank) right off. Vodka has a taste and good vodka has a distinct taste. Just because little girls drink poop like Grey Goose to avoid flavour doesn't mean vodka is meant to have no taste. That's what you're paying for with that French swill, to not taste it.

If you ever get a chance try Dovgan, solid bloody brand.

I want to try the crazy unfiltered Pilsner Urquell. The one you can only get in one specific pub (I think). Sounds so good.

I agree. Had a couple of vodkas that I enjoyed alone, on the rocks (Pur, Belvedere).

But I read that theorically, the perfect vodka wouldn't have any taste. Would be boring tho.
