Haven't had that beer but I do like the novel it's named after and the film loosely based on it (Apocalypse Now).

It's so hard to make a bad stout so I think I'd probably like that.

In slightly related news St Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is coming out in cans here now so my regular fav stout/porter Fullers London Porter has competition. I haven't bought either in a while but with St Ambroise coming in cans and London Porter coming with a free half pint glass (4 pack) I should pick some up!

I'm still waiting for it to show up here

Until then I guess I'll just drink Aventinus Eisbock and Bernardus Wit. The Eisbock kills me though. One of those and I have to go to sleep.

it was actually one of the better ones i've had. i was surprised at how good it was.

i wasn't expecting much from it but it surprised the hell out of me. i'd go so far as to use the word great.

that style just is not for me.

one of the few beers i ever dumped.

but i get that some people like it. it's just beyond even an acquired taste type of thing for me.

I like smoked beers when done right. Then again I also like lapsang souchong tea and Islay whisky so it kind of makes sense.
