i still think he was always hilarious.

people say he isn't funny anymore but i haven't really seen much of him since he sliced himself up and left stern's show.

To be fair the PB/Choc/Banana one wasn't nearly as awful as the bacon one. But it still wasn't particularly good. It was more like a Nesquik / Banada Flouride cocktail

Yep, that was what happened with me too, finally bit the bullet. They were in there for a solid 5 months waiting for me to work up the nerve.

Hmm, actually tasted similar to Charlevoix's regular dubbel, and not just because they are the same style. I was surprised. Pere Jacques was really nice. Charlevoix's DV dubbel is basically Pere Jacques on steroids I'd say. Same profile but a bit more intense which I like. I could see some people preferring the slightly more subtle Pere Jacques though.

The only dubbel I think is on par with them is Westmalle's. It's exceptional. St Bernardus makes a mean dubbel but it's a step below I think. Everything else like Chimay Red is below that even.

Everybody who tasted it agrees. I have no idea how they came up with the idea of going forward and sell this atrocity.
