i've never had a white wine that i've liked.

ever. really acidic with no payoff. so boring. im sure there are tons of exceptions but that's been my experience.

i'm not against white wine. i've just always been disappointed.

i don't even remember telling the boxed wine story that dave mentioned, but i know i must've told it because i totally have that aunt. lol

but we've had good white wine too and i just never found one i liked.

missus had to go watch the movie before we married after I inundated her with lines from it such as "food alright"

Cave Spring, Canadian winery makes a very nice dry Riesling that might change your tune on that.
- nfph

dry is the key
used to be hard to even find dry rieslings over here so people automatically think of nasty sweet white wines

you should try the one i was talking about last night, you'd appreciate it i think

and also

This might be like trying to sell me on lagers, I don't know. Might just be one of those things I don't really care for.

Which of those would be best?

Go with the estate. PLenty good for the style and 1/2 as much. If you don't like that, you won't like dry white wine.

Thanks, I picked some up last night. I probably won't get around to drinking it for a month or two but if I remember I'll post my thoughts on it in here when I do have it.

ps: The 2013 Gouden Carolus Blauw is excellent. I stocked up big time so I can age a bunch (24 lol) but I've already shared a few bottles with people and damn. Just as good as I remember it. Top tier dark Belgian ale without a doubt. Buy it with full confidence, though I'd treat it a bit like a wine and share it considering it's 11%.
