I guess that one has been posted a few times already in here, but my landlord brought me back 3 of these from a trip to Cape Cod. Excellent beer, right in my alley.

Too much hops, not enough Belgian yeast/malts. Still, pretty good.

Belgian IPAs are way better than regular IPAs. Much better malt backbone when done right.

Depends on how fresh it is I guess. It's one of the more hoppy "regular" Belgians I've had. It's not a Belgian IPA like the others I listed though.

Well, yeah, they told it was a "hoppy" Belgian, not a Belgian IPA. Was hoping for a Belgian ale with a little hoppy zing, but nope, the zing takes all the place.

Depends what you're looking for. Belgian IPAs are indeed more complex when done right, but there's nothing like a West Coast IPA (not that it's THE best beer, just that there's litterally nothing like it )

And 3 beers from Quebec out of 6 The Lupulus is a goddamn masterpiece.

For a friend's birthday last summer, we made poutine with gravy made with some nutty brown ale we found at the "depanneur", and bought 6 Lupulus to go with it (found them at $6 at the said depanneur )

We were 3.

Had about 5 different Gouden Carolus at this bistro two years ago in Gatineau:

I remember the Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw being the best of the bunch. Magnificient.

Pretty sure I raved about the Blauw in here earlier lol. Bought tons of bottles this past winter.

I guess I've had 4-5 of their beers? I can't recall exactly. All of them were amazing though.

West coast IPAs do nothing for me really. Extremely overrated and by comparison one dimensional beers imo. I'll drink them because I do like hops but when it comes down to it I'd rather have something more malty.

edit: and yeah, Lupulus is absolutely amazing. We've had old stock for too long here though and I'm dying for a fresh one. All our bottles are still from October. Screw that lol. I've had it aged to the point where it lost nearly all its hop profile and it was still great but I much prefer it fresh anyway.

Belgian IPAs are amazing. Take a regular Belgian ale and add mango, grapefruit, pepper, and floral notes and mmmmm. The good ones don't overpower the flavour with their hops at all, they simply compliment them.

They aren't replacing old beers with the newer styles though so I wouldn't worry even if you don't like Belgian IPAs. Just ignore 'em.

Disagreed. A lot of people have discovered in the recent years that there is something else than commercial cheap beers, and hops/IPAs are playing a great part in this IMO. What is wrong with offering what people are looking for?
