Never tried the cabbage soda (I'm too gassy as it is), but I did try the asparagus. It's ok if you like asparagus, but not exactly a hot summer day kind of drink.

I like aspargus with butter and lemon, don't want to drink it! How about a nice stout with a hint of broccoli!

You know it, I'm not big into vegetable drinks other than V-8 or tomato juice. Although hops and barley are close to being veggies!

Red Beer. Great for hangovers!!! About 1.5" of V8 and fill the glass with your favorite beer. Works every time.

Haven't tried either of those, but I gotta admit I'm not big on dark beers. Like pale ales, myself, but something with a bite.

It was actually pretty good. When I ordered the lady appologized to me that she doesn't think they have that on tap at the moment. I told her bottled was fine and she didn't card me. LoL. It's weird. I've noticed if I order Corona or Hieniken I get carded. If I order Stella or Newcastle they don't....

Probably think if you know those, then you aren't just ordering something you saw on tv or something. Who knows?

Exactly. It's like, if you order a Gin and tonic, you'll get carded. But if you order a Tanqueray and tonic, no problem.

Not that I'm promoting underage drinking or anything

Newcastle is great. Blue Moon is a white beer if i'm not mistaken. Also, I think it is served with a slice of orange.

They are my favourite beers to drink also, although they aren't the best tasting out there in my opinion. I find most of the better tasting beers (mostly microbrews) aren't all that good for pounding back considering many of them are well over 7% alcohol.

I had 12 La Fin Du Monde's (9%) over a couple hours to start the night a few new years back and that was quite the experience. If you don't mind forgetting an entire night I guess that might be fine, but that's not what I want haha.

Blue Moon isn't bad, it's more of a light beer and is usually served with an orange slice. It's really a chick/trendy beer.

That's funny. I worked at a bar in Manhattan and I asked the boss if he wanted the bartenders to do the shamrock thing with the Guinness. He said, "Hell no! We don't do that trendy, touristy sh!t here! This is a real pub!"

I always knew that guy was a moron.

- Rayzablades

They may only do that in Galway or just Northern Ireland. I know they never did that in Dublin, County Mayo or County Donegal. (which are all in the Republic).

But did that bartender even draft it right?

They aren't great for getting sloshed, but they're great for pure drinking. I love the Unibroue beers. A poster a while ago mentioned the Unibroue beers in this thread and when I was in Montreal last week, I went to the store and tried a few of them: Maudite, Trois Pistoles (?), and another one I can't remember. I tried La Findu Monde a few months ago - it was alright, but the other Unibroues were excellent.

Also, not to sound like a beer snob, but does anyone think that bottle fermented beers (I think that's the term for the cork in the bottle) don't taste as good as regular ol' bottles?

Trois Pistoles is probably my favourite Unibroue beer, but most of them are pretty good anyway.

I personally like several corked beers. A lot of the Unibroue beers come in corked 40oz bottles as well as regular ones and they taste the same. Both are fermented in their bottles (process is called "on lees" on something like that) though so that explains the taste being the same

I've seen it done in several Irish Pubs in Boston and New York. Beer still tastes good!
