Best of this particular style yet. I think I detect a hint of rye malt in there.

Davies, what are your opinions on these Black IPA Frankenbrews? Approve, disapprove?

Just curious?

never tried a black IPA, i assume it's hoppy and i steer clear

how is it pale, and black? i'm so confused

it adds up quickly doesn't it... but it's so much more satisfying than just pummeling a bud or whatever

i had tecate in a big can on friday night and i enjoyed it... i can definitely drink more cheaply in the summer when a cold mexican beer in a can really just hits the spot

** reading up on the black ipa thing...

Hopping rates are often greater than in normal IPAs, and dry-hopping - adding hops during the fermentation or later - is a common practice.

no thanks !

A friend of mine brought me some St Bernardus 12 bottles (26oz/750ml). Oh man I'm lucky. Couldn't be happier.

It's sinful to say this but I think I prefer Bernie over Westy, at least when they're both mostly fresh. If not it's at least so close. Aged I don't know yet since I'm still aging mine.

I've had this on tap a couple times now.

I can't decide if this is better than Derniere Volonte. Flavour is more intense but it comes at the cost of a way higher ABV too.

AND YAN

i tried to find Dunham's Leo's Early Breakfast IPA at my go-to amazing beer spot that has thousands of beers in stock and no luck. they said it doesnt get shipped to the US.

- Crimsoninja

Damn shame. And I was waiting for a new (rare) batch of it and they had a problem with the production.

And once again, I'm jealous of you americans... so many microbreweries.

Speaking of Brasserie Dunham, I was impressed with their black IPA. And I'm far from being a fan of black beer. #racist

Their Black IPA is pretty good. I had Great Lakes Black IPA and that on the same night a while back. Was a good night.

Going to Boston this weekend. I'll stop at the Beverage Warehouse of Vermont, hope I'll be able to find some gems. I should also visit the Sam Adams and Harpoon breweries, will be fun

$2.55 a bottle here. Spent just a shade over $15 for 6.

I'm not even sure I can get it that cheap if I were in Belgium. I refuse to complain about the LCBO anymore.

Happy birthday. Those are some nice glasses.

Had a couple of these tonight. I don't think they were all that fresh but they were still good.

the guy is an ex-alcy type but he has been sober for like 15 years and has zero cravings... i have no idea why it was dry. there was a coffee bar in the blazing midday southern sun.
