Good with some funky cheese and cured meats.

Can't remember if I posted it on here or not, but had a Boon's Kriek the other day... dear lord it may have been the best thing I've ever tasted in my life.

I've read that it may actually be this. That'd be even better.

I've had this mediocre Kriek not all that long ago. Not really my thing. Tastes too artificial, almost like a vodka cooler. Awful. So.. don't try this lol.

I'm not a big fan of Belgian beers... But Krieks can be awesome. Mort Subite is a great one.

Dammit man, I put my post on hold because I was talking to the boss, and you come out with this

Mind you, I didn't have the mort subite "xtreme", so I don't know about that... but the good thing about the normal mort subite is that it really has a natural taste, unlike a beer like fruli that way to many people I know go crazy for.

That was just the first picture that I thought looked close to what we have the LCBO lol. We have the regular one, not the "extreme". I've likely had the exact same kind as you.

Would've used that pic but it barely shows anything

I think I might have even posted that the Mort Subite Kriek and Framboise were ok in here before but I disagree with myself if I did. My most recent experiences were negative. Tastes like they just added extract to average lambics.

I'll have to see if I can find it, I don't mind fruit heavy beers (I know it's a bit of a no-no among beer geeks but whatever). The Boon Kriek is pretty strong on the cherry so probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it was well done and didn't taste artificial which is that fine line I think.

I read somewhere that it actually used to be common practice in Europe to add syrups to Lambics or gueze like pouring a cocktail. Sounds like a terrible idea.

I don't mind fruit beers at all. It took some getting used to but I grew to really like Shipyard Smashed Blueberry (tastes kind of like a blueberry porter or something) and a recent blood orange Belgian style ale I had was really good too.

As long as they doesn't taste really artificial I'm fine with them.

The Lindemans we got last year [edit: 2 years ago] was ok actually. Maybe that was the one I recall posting about. I hope so lol.

In Ireland it's quit common to ad black currant syrup to Guinness. Tragic, but true.

I could see that not being awful as long as they didn't add too much. Guinness is relatively cheap over there too so it's not nearly as sinful as adding stuff to an aged lambic.

Because it's one of the best beers in the world. Low supply and fairly high demand doesn't hurt either.

Speaking of expensive beers.. lol. Good stuff. When I've found them in bars they've been as expensive as a Westy though.

Have you ever had anything from 3 Fonteinen? It's supposed to be a similar quality brewery.
