i dunno if that's going to be permanent, i heard they only did it as a draft once to celebrate the "fin du monde" /mayan calendar thing
- Don'tForgetTocchet

Didn't know there was anything special about its release. It's been on tap at the Bar Bistro since January I think so I assumed it was permanent.

It's shown up at The Only Cafe in Toronto a couple times too (it's there right now).

I guess I'm spoiled lol.

Did you also notice a difference in taste on tap? Just wondering if it was just me.

I'm going to see if I can make it to the pub tonight and have some more in case it really is a limited release. At least that'll be my excuse.

edit: yep, I'm going for sure.

http://www.theonlycafe.com/theonly/24taps.html

Will probably try Unibroue Ephemere Pomme, Bellwoods Belgian IPA, their cask ale, and La Fin Du Monde. I've already had the others on tap before.

Yep, on tap La Fin Du Monde is different than the bottled version in my opinion. Seems less sweet, more dry? I don't know, it is really similar but it seems slightly different to me. Still super delicious.

Sounds like a good thing to me, I'm not a fan of sweet beer.

I don't mind if they've got a bit of a sweetness to them from some fruits being added or something like that... but when it's that thick malty sweetness, nope.

Some of my favourite beers are very sweet. Lots of the higher ABV Belgians lean towards the sweeter side. Then there's barley wines, scotch ales, etc etc. Yummy stuff.

So ... just got back from Ireland couple days ago. Tried to hit as many Ireland/UK crafts as I could:

Pretty decent ... not as hoppy as an APA

Meh

Pretty solid red.

Super thin, not very good

Really good IPA

Not too shabby, a little boring but good.

Very Hoegaarden-y. Pretty good.

Big beer ... quite bitter, lots going on. Was good but wouldn't have more than 1 in a sitting.

Pretty accurate name, straight forward but really well done porter.

This was really good ... lots of bitter chocolate.

Also brought back these 2 bad boys:

BLACK BARLEY WINE WITH GINGER, BLACK RASPBERRIES AND CHIPOTLE PEPPERS.

12.8%%

BLACK BELGIAN IPA, SCOTTISH BERRIES AGED IN OAK CASKS

11.2%

Bags got lost because we got re-routed so was pretty surprised that they made it back in tact. Pumped to try them.

Don't like the high abv belgians(or most belgians, tbh), and I gave a mill st. barley wine a try a few years ago.... I swore I'd give it a second taste, but the bottle's still in my fridge, and I'm fairly confident there is no way it's still good.

Got on a plane at 6am today, got off my last one at 1am with a 9 hour meeting in between. I'm relaxing with a glass of this on the rocks:

Mild Chipotle burn and some smoke mingling with a hint of vanilla and a nice clean vodka back to it. Think I'm always going to keep a bottle of this around.

Mill Street Barley Wine isn't that great of a barley wine. I don't see why it couldn't last several years before tasting off though.

Speaking of sweet beers I shared one of these tonight. Pretty good I must say. It's a pretty serious beer at 14.5% (label says 16%, LCBO lab testing had it at 14.5%). I think it's the strongest one I've ever had.

Interesting. Can't say I've ever seen it around, but I hardly look at the vodkas at the package stores.

Too much vodka isn't good for me lol

You and Shvingy-

What makes this so good is the vodka itself - they actually distill it from grapes at Hangar 1 (this distillery was about 10 miles from my place in Oakland). It's a lot milder on its own than your Stolis or even Grey Goose. Runs under 30 a bottle, and even if it's not to your taste on its own makes really good bloody mary's.

Again though, I really like it on ice alone.

Vodka and great in the same sentence.. does not compute. It's got about as much flavour as my tap water.
