Btw, I took your advice and drank 1 beer for each period last night!

SO, you are using the Reverse Beer Karma to support your team. I must then counter act this by drinking a beer for every goal scored by the Sabres in addition to one per period.

Yeah.......this should even the playing field.

So how do I counter that? By drinking a beer for every goal scored by the Sens?

Would I have to chug it in order to be able to drink my 1 beer per period with comfort? (Can't get sloshed today - gotta study for exams tonight)

Looks like I may have to make a run to the beer store...this ain't over yet, Dop! Ain't over in the slightest!!!

If we keep upping the ante, neither of us will make it to the end of the game, never mind your exam.

I could suggest drinking shandys (half beer and hald lemon aid) which not only is refreshing on a day like today, but if either team gets scoring like they can.........it might be a safer counter to each others beer karma.

BTW, you could use ginger ale, instead of lemonaid.

I went with the Shandy strategy today, and mixed in some chicken wings as my secret weapon.

Question...what beer goes best with victory?
What brew goes best with Buffalo chicken wings cooked to perfection?
I have quite the selection to choose from now after picking up more than a few of the beers recommended on this thread.
I'm sorry , I just so freakin' Happy.

LoL. Went to the Applebee's next to my house on saturday night with my girl and a few friends to grab some food and drinks. We get there and my buddy orders his usual Carona. I take a look at the section of the beer menu and as I'm looking down he says "Why don't you order your New York beer" I told him unfortunatly they don't have Brooklyn Brew here. The waiter, young guy maybe 22-23 tells us they just got a new selection not on the menu yet and we should try Stella. Now I've never had it so I convince him to forget the Carona's and try this.

Need less to say now that the beer thread has got'ten me to go out trying new beers, as a direct result of the Beer Thread we have captured another soul. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Thank you, you fans of the Sabres have a lot of class. It was not so long ago that both our teams went bankrupt, and made the necessary choices to bring both franchises back to the level they are today. So there is a bit of kindred ship there as far as I am concerned.

Your team eliminated us last season, and forced a re-tooling of the team and system.............so perhaps this disappointment you feel will force the Sabre's to look at the regular season as we in Ottawa do. The regular season is only to qualify for the playoffs..............and you should build a team for the playoffs, not the regular season.

The Playoffs are basically a tournament, and where you are seeded is not that important, and you can include home ice advantage. Look at the Oilers last year, and eighth seed that when the distance.

And some day, I will be stopping for Wing, and a beer, in Buffalo, enroute to my relatives in St Catherines.

I completely forgot about that! Two recently bankrupts franchises fighting for the Conference Championship - what a story! While I cheer for a team in perpetual limbo in terms of quality and ability, Ottawa and Buffalo have turned money losing operations into winning traditions. Good for them!

It seem though, that MLSE is spending mega-bucks on the raptors, and their management, and are only throwing a few pennies toward the leafs. I did not catch the exact figures on the radio today, but it sounded like a couple of million spent on the managment of the leafs, and well over 8 million for the raptors.

Make you wonder where their priority is. It is a given that leaf games will always sell out............but what is the attendance like for the raptors???

The Raptors do not sell out but do well in terms of attendance I believe.

I made a beer run to Aylmer today - made a stop at Rapido. For 4 12's of Heineken and 2 24's of Coors Light (not for me!) I spent $103.

That works out to $25.75 a case of 24. In Ontario that would have cost you about between another $40 to $50 in total.

It was definitely worth the trip. I also grabbed a poutine along the way at La-La Patate.

I guess living so close to Quebec does have its perks.
