Prohibition visiting the neighborhood rockabilly watering hole today. Had a Speakeasy, Big Daddy and an amber over a cubango sammich.

My favourite Unibroue beer. That's probably at least partially because I don't get to drink it very often since I can only get it in Quebec though. I always have most of their other beers in my fridge so they don't seem as special.

Had a couple of those on tap at Gatineau's Festibière.

Had a talk with the master brewer and he told me the Éphémère Blackcurent was to be replaced with an Éphémère Cherry

As a guy who is generally highly suspicious of fruit flavored beers, I do need to point out how close the word "Éphémère" looks/sounds to "effeminate"

That is all, I'm going to go kill a wildebeest and drag it back to the fire now.

If I had to guess, I'd say you have nailed the actual translation. I was just using a lazy initial reading to make an equally lazy crack about beers with berry flavors in them.

Probably. Uber yeast I can deal with, spices are pretty good... berries do start to brush up against what I'm willing to still consider beer.

I'm planning on having one or two of these tonight.

It's probably best to stick with just one since it's 500ml @ 8.2% but they're so delicious.

ok, so here was a terrible terrible beer.

turns out "za'atar" means some kind of spice blend that is mostly oregano. this beer smelled and tasted exactly like oregano. not sure why anybody would want that. will never drink again.

The Italian saison I just got is made with ginger, coriander, green pepper and chamomile according to the label. Not quite oregano but I've never seen green pepper in a beer before.
