Two nights ago I decided to get a little drunk so I bought some Moosehead, Corona, Faxe, Steeler, Heineken and some kind of german beer that had a jouster on the can.

I await your insults.

Also, I bought the Faxe because I thought the viking on the can was nifty.

Belgian IPAs are tasty. La Chouffe makes an excellent one. There are a ton of good ones from over here using north american hops too like Derniere Volonte and Lupulus. Mmm.

Most cats I've met are, i guess, more emotionally independent than Dogs are. Dunno what's weird about it. If you want a pet that will put you at the very center of its universe, get a dog.

nfph,
drinking the bulleit rye now.

i tried it without ice first and it was pretty good, but maybe spicier than i want. then i tried it with a couple cubes and it took some of the spice away and made it taste much sweeter and smoother, which i think i liked better.

definitely better than that other crap i was spending around the same amount of money on.

have you had the bourbon? is that any good? i may get that and try it sooner or later too.

i've read up on the differences between whiskey, scotch, and bourbon - but what is the taste difference? all anyone writes about is how/where they're made and stuff.

like, is one sweeter than the rest? is one smoother than the rest? which is most spicy and which is least spicy?

Sweet ------------ Not sweet
Bourbon->Whiskey->Scotch

I don't find any of them particularly smooth, per-se... And any whiskey should give you some heat, but it's not as clear a difference between them there.

Bourbon uses corn with the barley mash so it's sweeter than pure barley mash which is what whiskey and scotch use. Then, it's a matter of how long it's aged and in what kind of wood, which affects how much smoke, wood tannin and peat you get. Peat is pretty unique to scotch, and sounds unappetizing- its like tar/smoke/earth flavor that I personally love.

i think i kind of like all three, but i just wanted to understand the differences so i know what to buy. i want to have all three in my home so i need to start experimenting.

does it make me a little female dog if i actually liked crown royal?

I don't think so, no

Scotch is what will end up costing you in the end. My favorite scotch I can afford is Lagavulin... Super peaty and smoky, runs about $80 a bottle.

i drink my scotch right out of crims' mouth. so he pays for it.

seriously tho, scotch will probably be the last one i figure out and it will be for just that reason - i know i can't afford to do the experimenting right now.

east coast beer company - winter rental. i like it. it's a new jersey beer, which usually means it would suck. but this is pretty good.

it's no "the poet", but it's good. i'll buy this again when i see it.

Have you tried the IPA/IPA Impériale from microbrewery Du Lièvre?

It's right up there with the Lupulus as one of Québec's best IPAs
