When I lived in Germany (seven years) this was one of the first beers I drank. Ganter beer, popular in the Baden WÜrttemberg area.

I actually lived across the Street from a small Brewery, and every time I walked past it, the freaking german shepperd would come charging up the fence barking................so I never did try thier beer.

What were you doing in Germany and how did you not drink the beer from the brewery across the street? Maybe the dog was mad at you for not drinking the beer? He took that personally.

The bottle is 1 pint, 9.4 oz - I suck in math, but I think that's close to a wine bottle. Anyone with metric abilities figure this one out.

It's bottle fermented, so it has a cork and you open it kinda like champagne.

Eh I'll give it a shot and see if I can find it. I still wan'na try that Dark Chocolate Stout but I have yet to find it. Going to 2 more stores today.

Oh great news. For my B-day my mom is getting me Beer of the money. Then send you a Variety 6-pack (6 different beers) every month for you to try new beers. I think she's getting me a 1 year setup. I never new something so good could exist. Only bad part if when I get it I'ma be so excited to try the new beers but have to put them in the fridge and wait.

With the Advice of all the beer lovers I went out and got some new beer for myself on friday night. Brooklyner Weisse. Brooklyn Brew's Wheat beer. Says on the label is like a Bavarian beer. It's actually really good. I still couldn't find Brooklyn's Dark Chocolate Stout at 2 of the places I went too. Gon'na go to a few more to look for that.

Stela's is next week's beer. Any opinions on that. I've never had it either..

Stella is decent, at best. Has kind of a funky metallic taste that you have to get used to. As far as Lagers go, IMHO, Czechvar is probably the best you can get. I much prefer Ales over Lagers though.

My father was serving with NATO, and was based in Germany. The drinking age in Germany is 16, and during my last 3 years there, I frequented the Gästehofs and they served Ganter Beer.

BTW........made the Beer Run to Quebec.

24 500ml (Half liter) cans of Bitburger $31.99, plus deposit and taxes
$41.11

A 24 of any domestic beer (Blue) was priced at $22.34, and when you add deposit and taxes.........$27.75. Now I'm sure, in Ontario the same case of Blue is between $36 & $37.

I just got back form the LCBO. I worked until 5 and didn't have time to run to Quebec. I paid just under $23 for 12 Heineken. I feel so cheated and ripped off.

I tried the new Presidents Choice Wheat Beer. It was actually rather enjoyable. No preservatives, and well priced.

Another sucessfull minimum one beer period karma, and another win.
I stuck with three Bitburgers, while my host had three different brands, Becks, Heinekenand something else.

Well I messed up the whole theory. I had 3 or 4 triple rum and cokes. That seemed to work too.

I visit the States often, and always bring back the allowable limit of beer.

Now do you want to talk gas prices????

the cheapest gas in Buffalo is $2.85(us) a us gallon
which is $3.13 (cad) a us gallon or 82.8 (cad) cents a Litre

http://www.buffalogasprices.com/

While in Ottawa the cheapest is $100.6 (cad) a Litre
which is $346.42 (us) a us gallon

http://ottawagasprices.com/
******************************************************

there is 3.7854118 litres in a us gallon.

http://www.thetipsbank.com/convert.htm

$1.00 (us) equals $1.10 (cad)

You know it is going to be all your fault that I take a drive over there this weekend and pick up a 24 pack of the bitburger. I've never had it before but I've been thinking it would be good to try. I can grab some other stuff as well to make it worth the trip.

Save your cans................they have machines just inside, to feed them into, to collect your deposit, on your return trip to restock your beer.

Pour (Bitburger) your beer into a large glass, and enjoy. I will be surprised if after drinking 3 of them, you will not be happy.

While you are there, note that per 100 ml, the unit pricing for comparision with the rest of the beers, it is the cheapest there.

However the 20 cents per can deposit it the highest, but believe me you will return, and feed them into that can machine.

Costco also has Korona and Grolsch at time.....and I prefer the Bitburger over them. They did not have any Tobourg yesterday, but the stock changes quickly, so they may have it when you go.

Not for nothing I know the Sabres beat the Rangers and all but the way your team is playing you should be drinking gasoline and smoking a cigerette

It's an embarrassment, seems like they gave up. I don't know why Ottawa fans boo when they get a penalty, that's when Buffalo is at its worst. I wish they could decline the penalties and stay five on five, at least there won't be any 2 on 0 breakaways.

I think the particular case you are referring to happened right after there should have been a call against Buffalo. That is why they were booing but I do agree that they likely wouldn't get any 2 on 0 breakaways while on the powerplay so the shorthanded situation may be better to have for Ottawa in this series.

Of course we're getting off-topic here....

I guess I should put a couple of beer in the fridge for the Ducks/Wings game.

I've been wishing they could decline penalties all year long, but Ruff would be too stubborn to do that - it would mean a change. Can't do that.

So, in honor of the Sabres playoff demise (although I still have hope of at least a few more chances to watch my team this year), I've been drinking depressing red wine.

Any wine drinkers? Trader Joe's has good wine for under $10, and that's where I go. It's all about some "Barefoot" shiraz, or maybe some "Jake's Fault" shiraz. Or if you're really on a budget, get the famous 2 buck chuck (3 bucks outside of California).
