how is an ipa belgian style? i don't get it
- Don'tForgetTocchet

They take a hoppy west coast ipa and ferment it using a belgian yeast strain instead of the customary ale yeast.

Dave, I tried this last night before I let my wife drag me to bowling.

Mainly because I loved the little picture, but I saw Belgian and gave it a whirl. Delicious. It's like a whole new world is opening up to me. I intend to sample a number of asian beers next.

EDIT: apparently their glasses are hard to find. I found a website that says they have a cache of them.

My friend from Ottawa got me those:

http://www.beaus.ca/beer/wild_oats/collabrrrewator
Strong doppelbock beer and a blend of three flavourful organic fair-trade coffees.

http://www.beaus.ca/beer/wild_oats/hogans_goat

An experimental spiced beer, this amber bock with rye malt added is also infused with peppermint, orange peel and juniper berries.

http://www.beaus.ca/beer/wild_oats/winterbrewed

Amber lager, brewed with Guatemalan organic fair trade coffee from Bridgehead.

http://www.beaus.ca/beer/wild_oats/mates

The base beer is loosely modeled on an English brown ale. After the first fermenation we added crushed dates, cane sugar, more wort and Trappist Ale yeast to get a second fermantation going.

And a La Trappe quadrupel

Can't. (frank)ing. Wait.

I've been avoiding Beaus because of their awful Kolsch the LCBO has been pushing the past year (Lagered Ale or w/e they call it). Apparently they are a great brewery though and I've just had the misfortune of having one of their only duds lol.

La Trappe is always good. I have non left
