Anyone every tried Barenuckle Stout? I just picked up a 4 pack of tall cans at lunch and am looking forward to drinking it at a BBQ I'm attending tomorrow.

Unfortunatly around my arena there no good sports bars. There used to be a great one right down the road from my house, maybe a five minute drive, but they closed down and opened up a hipster sushi place

So with all the talk going on there's a Hooters not to far from me so I'm thinking about calling in and ordering like 50-100 wings and picking it up and have some people over for tonights game.

Unless you can take one of the waitresses home for them to serve them to you, why in the hell would you get wings from Hooters? They are horrible. You have to have a better place than that to get wings?!?!?!?!

Took the words out of my mouth, I don't like them but some people I know think they're pretty good! Taking the waitress home not a bad idea, wings, sushi and beer!

I might be a wing snob but I would drive to Newark before I would eat Hooters wings. You might as well get the frozen ones at the grocery and make them yourself and save a couple bucks for BETTER BEER and they would taste as good or better! I don't know how hard it is to get to but isn't there anything in Elizabeth?

What the don't tell you is that it's a very Suburban place (I grew up in Newark NJ. You can look it up too (Devils new arena)) and it's dead. There's nothing to do. If you go to the Dinner (On the main street there's a diner 2 blocks from the high school) you can probably see half of the young kids in Union there. There's like 2-3 bars in the the Union Township that I would even consider going too and 1 of them closed (the sports bar I mentioned earlier).

The place is lame. Where I grew up we would play right out in the street, basketball, football, roller hockey(this more than anything!) baseball, soccer. If we didn't wan'na play sports all the kids from the street would all hang out right on the steps out front. It was unusual being in doors all day. Now I look out there no one doing anything ever. The kids are all in doors watching tv or something. When I first moved here I was still in high school. I asked a few people what was there to do at night around here..... They all responded the same. Nothing. BLAH! Look what you did. You got me ranting about that lame ass town!

See the thing is Elizabeth, Newark those places are mostly directed at the different cultures that live in those arenas. Brasilians and Portuguese take up a very big chunk of Newark and that means you can get Cod Fish all day.. But not Buffalo wings. You can get chicken cooked right over the BBQ but it's not Buffalo wings. Elizabeth are alot of hispanic and portugese restuants as well.. I guess it reflects alot of who is living there. As far as I know there's not really any tradition "bars" around where you can order Buffalo wings and actually watch a game (there's like Applesbees and Fridays and places like that but really I would kill myself befor going there to watch a sporting event)

Amen to that. Understand. Chains suck! Need more Local places instead of these chains taking over the world of restarants.

Plus most of the places here have the same beer ALL the time. Hieniken, Corona, Coors, Bud, Guniness, Maybe a choice of Sam Adams here and there, Miller, and in very few places Michelob(sp??).
If you got to a Portugese resturant there's a few more choices of beers from Portugal (IE Sagras being one of them). Or a Brasilian Resturant carries Brahma (I like it. It's not a bad beer at all. If you can get your hands on it, give it a shot).

I would have to go into NYC to one of the Beer museums with like 50,000 different beers to get a taste of anything new.

Two 500ml Bitburgers over the course of the evening, is quite enough, win or lose. I can handle myself if my team loses.

I am not a "drink to get drunk" drinker. I am also able to drive home after the game legally as well.

The days of drinking enough to get "plastered" are many decades ago.

And I do not have an appetite for my underwear.

That's hard to beat, but I did have a friend who put all his toll change in his mouth because he thought the metal from the coins would take all the alcohol from his breath...they ended up not breathalyzing him.

I wonder what's worse - chomping on your used undies or stuffing your mouth full of dirty quarters?

I'm taking my underwear - at least I know where that's been.

Over the weekend, I went to Massachusetts and got a chance to try "La Fin Du Monde", which many of my fellow beer drinkers north of the border have highly recommended.

Not a bad brew. I liked it. Kind of strong tasting but definitely good. I was actually kind of relieved it was strong because I've come in contact with way too many "sweet" beers lately.

That's why this thread is so good - it can actually be put to use!

Well my Ottawa friend we now get to push each other a bit. The Rangers played well and it was one hell of a series. Let's try to pick a beer for each game and see how they turn out. You as the visitor can pick first, give enough time for us to find the beer if we can't move on to the next!
