If you can’t see why a young player felt he had no other option but to say yes even if he was uncomfortable then you sir are a fool - ClaudeFather
Actually that would make the young player the fool. They're adults. You keep thinking it's a question of not understanding that possibility exists. It does which is why I said in the very beginning that it was probably not a good idea and if it was used for other reasons then just getting to know a player, then that is an issue. Again, we have players and the GM on the record stating that they had no issue with what happened and the GM said on the record that he felt Babcock was genuine in his reasoning of why he wanted to share photos.

You keep making dumb comments like that's not how a phone works. When albums of specific photos can be made and shared and that is exactly how a phone works. You have the ability to relate what was said on 32 thoughts. Maybe you can't and aren't able to use your brain. Your childish comments are not going to be effective. - MJL
Not to mention most phones need a password to get into them. So Babcock snatched the phones from each player’s hand. Forced them to put in their code and started swiping through while the players watched at gun point? |

Based on what little knowledge I have. Which is the episode of Spittin Chiclets that broke the story first by a player from the organizations who text Paul Bissonnette, the Blue Jackets presser saying they’ll be parting ways with Babcock and a couple of web sites after the story was made public, nobody has given all the details of what was said and what was done.
Now, if I’m the Blue Jackets I’m holding a meeting with the players and I’m telling them that if anyone doesn’t come to an authority figure in the organization first, instead of running to a podcast, there will be repercussions. This is a stain on the blue jackets. - SuperSchennBros
this will not float in todays society. Sadly.
I would not share any photos with my coach. I dont care if I was an 18 year old rookie or 10 year vet. That stuff is of limits and has nothing to do with hockey. |

I wasn’t there for the conversation, so I guess it depends on how it came up. There are unacceptable subjects that come to light on this board that some dig their heels on.
I don’t mind sharing photos if the conversation really calls for it. |

each is there own, that is not the type of relationship I would want with my coach.
I am sure the initial intention wasn't anything of malice. For whatever reason it rubbed some the wrong way. It was a very odd ask on Babcock part and he clearly is tone deaf to want to go down that avenue knowing the things that have bene said about him in the past. Almost like he wanted to get fired. |

There was a meeting where Babcock had access to the phone for several minutes with the player not present and this made the player uncomfortable. This, apparently was the red flag moment that elevated the incident to a different level. It was a young player and the player didnt feel like he had any recourse.

I am not sure why young players would trust Babcock after what he did to Marner. He made the poor kid write down and rank who are the hardest workers and who are not. He then shared that list with the team and pointed out it was Marner who wrote it. Marner was a rookie.
Babcock isn't old school he is just his own school. |

If this is true, this is bad but I need more than one source. It should be made public knowledge, like everything else he’s done. |

It's not the way it should be. It's archaic and obsolete. A team like the Flyers destined to be a bottom feeder should have open spots for younger players where they compete again other younger players for the spot. Fill in and stop gap veterans players can always be found on the waiver wire.
Not sure who you're listening to, but NHL roster spots are not up for grabs in rookie games.
- MJL
What was meant by that line is if the only way younger players are evaluated for an NHL roster spot was the rookie game, no Flyer participating in the game, including Desnoyers and Foerster, would make the big club. In other words, no Flyer really played that well. Now Wisdom and Brown played well, and there were moments from other young players, but overall players like Desnoyers and Foerster needed to show more, which means they better show up this week for the rest of rookie camp and the start of the main camp. |

The Flyers have numerous players signed to one way NHL contracts to play the 3rd pair. I'd like to see some young guys integrated into the lineup but doubt it's going to happen overall. - MJL
There will be injuries and thus a chance for younger players to step in ... it's the Flyers afterall! |

I see it this way. As you said, in light of what he did to Marner, there was very little wiggle room for Babcock when it comes to how young players are treated. The PA already was under the gun from the Kris Beech debacle. And when what Babcock did to Marner got out, and IMO that was insane, Babs had to know he had a target on his back. What a breach of trust on the part of Babcock.
So if he indeed took the young players phone, then left the room to look through the phone. That just can not happen.

I see that as an issue. The question I have then is who unlocked the phone with the password and who gave Babcock the phone without the owner of the phone present?

That the power dynamic is not understood, is your hang-up and your invention. Not mine. My position has consistently been if all that Babcock did was ask to see some family photos, then I have no issue with that. If it was more than that, then I need to see the evidence of that. The only ability you have shown is to lob insults.

NHL rookie games are not about earning an NHL roster spot. It's also about sample size

Do you know what hearsay is? You were asked multiple times to provide any info you have. How many players were involved in this? If you have something to offer, the onus is on you to provide that info. All you can do is make childish and immature insults. It's a reflection on you, not me.
