Article on ESPN this morning stating NHLPA sources as saying the veteran players were having "a much different experience" than the younger players, which is exactly his M.O.
The guy is a first class POS and should never be allowed to coach again, anywhere.

Couturier hasn't played in almost two years, I wonder if he'll ever be the same again after being away for that long?
“So far, so good,” Flyers general manager Daniel Briere said recently. “It seems to be very positive.
“Spoke to him last week. He was gung-ho. He seems to think that everything’s back to normal for him, which is exciting for him and for us.
“So at this point I expect him to be on the ice for training camp and be on the ice for Game 1 of the season.” - Dave21Brown

So am I, to me I thought it should be a non-story. I never thought it would escalate into Babcock resigning. - MJL Wrong again!

That's right, you can't and can only assume. You're also incorrect that I'm spinning it as a non-story. The NHL and NHLPA are involved and the coach re-signed. It's a story. My position is not and has never been that it IS a non-story. My position was that it SHOULD be a non-story. You obviously can't differentiate between the two. There is always more than what is told to the public. - MJL More BS from you. You LOLed at me and said Jenner blew it off. You absolutely said it was a non story! So funny how some folks just can't admit when they were wrong. Get over yourself already!

apparently my assumptions are more accurate than yours. Can you say what his intentions were?? LMAO , ridiculous spin in bold.
after the story partially comes out the coach resigns, but no, this shouldn't be a story.
thanks for confirming i am right...yet again. |

The NHL and NHLPA both initially chalked it up to a nothing burger. Jenner and the Jackets org came out publicly trying to put a smiley face on the situation for damage control. Biz and Whitney were starting to take a lot of heat for their initial report and then doubling and tripling down on it.
It wasn't until the PA started digging deeper and actually started interviewing the players involved that they realized something really (frank)ed up was actually going on. And then Babs was quickly terminated.
Like somebody said before, leopard doesn't change his spots.
Even if the guy only had the best of intentions he was flippant with the handling of players' right to privacy outside of work, which in most professional settings is a HR five-alarm situation. - Tomahawk
What did the PA find when they were digging further? I haven't seen anything that suggests he was flippant with the right to privacy. I think it's a shame that in today's world, something like that is enough to get someone fired. Which is basically what happened.

You thinking this is a court of law on if their was consent hanging over the phone is exactly why you can’t wrap your ahead around it - ClaudeFather
If you hand over your phone to show the coach pictures, have you given consent? You're wrong that I can't wrap my head around it. There is a difference between knowing that something is a certain way, based on the current climate that we live in. Versus thinking whether it should be wrong or not. Here is what it boils down to, to me. I don't see anything wrong with ASKING players to see some family pictures in an attempt to get to know them. Apparently, he was also sharing his. Now if there were conditions attached to it, such as a player would be punished somehow for not sharing, then that would be an issue. I don't know that the latter happened.

There is more to this story than is being made public. Not sure why you STILL don't get it.

Yes, in today's world. Not worthy of getting fired in my opinion. It's the politics of it.
Again, just asking to see pictures is not fire-able in my opinion. If he threatened players or implied that there would be ramifications if they didn't. Then that would change things. I don't know that to be the case. Some players were good with it. Some were not.

Asking for a family photo album and scrolling through one’s camera roll are not the same thing. And this is not an isolated incident. This is a guy who has a history of being a maniac. You failing to understand any of this is quite amusing |

I believe in due process. His past history and reputation does not automatically mean that the complete facts should be ignored. Based on what I know, I don't think this rose to the level of a fire-able offense. That's my opinion. You're making a fool of yourself with your claims that I don't understand it. I understand how the world works. There are a number of players who also found it to be a non-issue and they were involved. Did they also fail to understand any of this?

Other people could have been treated differently or could have had nothing to hide. Honestly hilarious, he’s “fired” but somehow you’re right 😂 |
