Innocent until proven guilty applies in a court of law where the government has the burden of proof to satisfy a jury that someone is guilty. Since someone’s liberty is at stake, the burden needs to be high.

That same burden doesn’t apply outside the courtroom. We’re all free to make up our own minds with or without proof and the NHL can take action without needing the same level of proof. (They’d need something to protect themselves against civil suits but they can act on their own.)

My guess is that neither the League of Hockey Canada will act until London police lay charges. They’ve already said they have reasonable grounds to believe 5 people committed sexual assault.

Also, Briere has said there’s nothing to Hart putting his IG account private.

There were pundits who said a few months ago that Hart won’t be traded before Hockey Canada thing gets resolved. Many of these pundits have sources and are in the know to some extent. It is quite possible that the teams/league/players/agents have all known the direction for a while.

Thanks for an explanation that wasn't needed. You are free to apply any standard you want. From my perspective, Hart is innocent until he is proven guilty. Since it's all rumor to this point.

Yes, I was just replying to a comment a not trusting young women around stars. I can see someone not trusting 1 woman because of false accusations coming to light in some cases but Hyde had more than 1 woman accuse him.

It actually defies common sense and logic with unlimited resources, the London Police and whatever prosecuting agency they have in Canada still hasn’t concluded the investigation.
