...and using apart incorrectly. The refs pull apart two players who are fighting. The goalie is a part of the team. It's basic English people.

works for me. It's a breath of fresh air to see young players signed to reasonable contracts.

For sure. Really hoping this year Frost especially shows his playmaking. We have several shooters now, and Frost has a shot that can keep goalies honest.

So everyone happy with the Frost contract? Good deal, right.

Very good deal for the Flyers. Mediocre deal for Frost.

I agree… until that person becomes arrogant and combative with others regarding what they know.

i believe tyson makes the team out of camp as well. tanner and allison (allison being better) will have their spots challenged. tanner imo has to reclaim his if he is to be with the big club

I’m sure I’m viewed as the most sensitive guy on this page, which is fine. I just don’t appreciate certain lines being crossed and we know what lines those are. If you choose to cross these lines, and I have nothing better to do with my day, I don’t mind arguing my case for an entire day. Some things I believe are just wrong.

I get that the racial stuff makes you angry. As a Jew I've faced some racism in my life too (not that I'm comparing it to what a black man, in this country, has to deal with on a daily basis). It doesn't feel good. Maybe I have the benefit of age, but I really don't worry about how anyone on here views me. As far as arguing your case; I don't think either side ends up looking good when this happens and it's tiresome and kind of sad to read through. I can't tell any other adult how to act, but I feel better about my myself when I make an effort to be civil.

Probably so. I thought Frost would get slightly more, but maybe only one year so perhaps this was a compromise.

They don’t have a ton of playmakers and if he can shine there, I think this was a very good bet on himself.

Great deal for the Flyers. Especially since it keeps them out of LTIR.
- MBFlyerfan

I'm curious as to why you think it's a big deal for the Flyers to stay out of LTIR this season? Especially when it is inevitable that, barring a major trade of a contract, they will be into LTIR at some point. The only player on an ELC with performance bonuses in his contract that could cause bonus overage penalties is Brink. He's not expected to make the team.

The more I think about the defense the Flyers have going into this season, I can really imagine them splitting the ice time more evenly between the pairs, the third pairing getting more time than the average team. I think they really must go full committee or they are basically throwing someone under the bus. They just don’t have a top pairing; I hope they don’t pretend they do.
- NC Flyers Fan

I agree with your basic point but I hope they do pretend that they have one and throw Staal and Ristolainen to the wolves.

Not sure how the cap part shakes out with three goalies. It could be one of those times that the opening paper roster doesn’t reflect the roster from the start and moving forward.

And you are welcome to your opinion. I don’t see any issue with someone who has not played but studied and watched the game.

The stupidity of it is those that claim that they know whether someone has played the game. It's hysterical.

It rarely is. CapFreindly is an estimate based on off season cap accounting rules and how players apply along with other factors.

Yes, we’ll see. I think I feel this way because most folks think York has the highest upside among the current NHLers, and I don’t want them to ruin him—too much, too soon.

Completely agree. Same with Sanheim which is why I want Staal and Ristolainen to be the sacrificial lambs as much as possible.

I like football, but just don't have the same level of understanding of the game because I never played it competitively. I'm not saying that you have to play the sport to understand it, but it I can understand why people who played it feel that way. I just don't feel as attached to any other sport.

People who legitimately have knowledge of something, know when someone else does also. Regardless of experience level. The rest just pretend. When the "you never played card" is played. That a dead giveaway to the latter. They don't have the ability to make an intelligent and informed argument against. They have no other recourse but to throw fallacies into the ring.

Maybe, but I still think there’s a level of understanding of some aspects of the sport that you only get by playing the game. Of course I only played club hockey up through the early 80s so my knowledge is more in line with Tort’s view of hockey. After that I played mostly low level men’s league. It was a free for all. No hockey knowledge needed.

My issue with you isn’t about our “hockey opinions” and disagreements. That’s bound to happen. With all of us.

My issue is that you’re a Richard.

So when I see people acting like a Richard, I’m going to be a Richard right back.

This is an anonymous website. How I look is neither here nor there for me. Calling me Corky is fine. Nobody in here can say they’ve seen me fly off the handle and I understand the reference. However intentionally and racially attacking me is not okay. Black character names. Talking to me with black slang such as “homie don’t play that” or “you dig” as if I play into a stereotype. Outright saying I remind him of the first black clown, than cowardly denying you’re being racist is beyond ridiculous. He’s a sociopath safe in his own home to say whatever he wants.

This aside, I’m also being called stupid over petty past differences like which era had more or the strongest duos in hockey. If you differ, that’s fine but it’s how you come across.

Before I went to bed last night I had an epiphany. Phillywhiteout last night out of nowhere made this grand standing point that I should be careful about what I say and who I say it to because he’s some sort of CEO of a major company. First that’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard in my life that he would claim this. Second, this message board is a fantasy to most of these people. Most of the characters we come cross here aren’t real.
