Talk the Boston next year when they have a boatload of cap space and work out a deal, for picks and maybe a low end prospect.

Sanheim can go to either the Jets or Flames, there's a deal to be made with both teams.

then why is he still here as clearly co-gm briere tried to move him.

I’m interested in seeing what Sanheim can do as our default number one but I’m not optimistic. Should we be?

My fear is people will get stuck on what they think he could be like ghost. Instead just get mediocracy.

This is the entirety of your response to my post... how am I not to get that your response was what you got from my post... when it is what you responded?

I gather it may have been a rhetorical response... had you led with "I agree... but if they want enthusiasm and personality............." I probably wouldn't have thought that that was what you mainly got from my post.

Then we are in agreement. 👍

- ForeverFlyer16

I was interested in discussing the personality and enthusiasm angle. That's all that was meant by it. We can discuss the minutia of what each of us meant or take it further. If not that's okay also. I'm looking for how a coach handles players, devises systems, in game coaching decision, player deployment, strategy etc. A coach can't win me over with his personality. If I want enthusiasm, I'd hire a cheerleader. We have Keith Jones for that.

Gostisbehere was a high level PP and point producer in his prime here. What people think that Sanheim has that potential?

You made this statement "My fear is people will get stuck on what they think he could be like ghost." In order to have a fear of that, doesn't someone or a number of people compare him to Gostisbehere?

I don't think Sanheim has been given the chance on PP1 for an extended period of time. Until he has that chance then you can't answer the question with but speculation.

I know this, I would take sanheim in the d zone over ghost all day long. Ghost's d zone play was a step up from Yandle that's about it. When they had the trade for Krug I said "oh no not again" small defensemen just don't last.

I don't see Sanheim having the potential of a PP1 defenseman but maybe a PP2 guy. I agree, he hasn't been given a legit chance to see what he can do on the PP.

Considering the many coaches he has had, do you think there is valid reason why he hasnt been given a "legit" chance? Are they seeing something you are not possibly?

I personally have more of a problem with the "defensive" dmen who have been around the past decade or so than the TDAs, Ghosts and Yandles.

Braun was the only guy who was really reliable defensively for any length of time. Provy, Hagg, Grossmann, Gudas, AMac, RR, Schenn, million year old Nick Schultz... who was ever actually shutting anybody down? The only thing most of them were shutting down was any chance of the Flyers exiting their own zone.

If they had anybody near the competence of a Slavin or Pelech or Brodin the small defensemen would have been able to just do their thing, instead of being held to some unnecessary 200-foot standard.

But what can Boston give back to the Flyers. Sure the Bruins are projected to have 28M in cap space next season, but they have no prospects, not any really good young players and no high picks. If they were to want Couts, its to maximize the final years of Marchand and continue to feed Pastrnak and McAvoy, but the Bruins would have to give up a player like McAvoy to get something good in return at this point.

You brought up Gostisbehere to compare a situation rather than a comparison between players. Got it. What situation would that be? Of course you don't know where I came up with that one.

You were the guy who just tried to blame Provorov's bad goal results on playing with Angelo, but now you're comparing York to Sanheim without mentioning that York only played 60 minutes with Angelo compared to 331 for Sanheim.

what are the results when provie played with TDA, as i didn't look it up? I remember they got shelled together, but most did with tda. you are also taking it out of context as the conversation continued. and not fully. he also went against tougher matchups as well.
