OMG, you have the sense of humor of a tadpole. The scary part is that you and your big brother are going to beat this thing to death and actually think it's humorous. I'd never fire you, so you have no worries. Of course, I'd never hire you either. I tend to stay away from drama queens in both my professional and personal life. Thanks!

That means then that if you think he is a drama queen and you tend to stay away from them. That you're not going to reply to him anymore? You haven't been doing a very good job of that so far. Disappointing for a top exec to not follow his own guidelines. Sets a bad example to the underlings.

I’m estimating that the Flyers finish this season with at least 30 more goals scored. I hope that translates to being more fun to watch, but I have no illusions that it means “more competitive.” I think the easiest way to explain that seemly contradiction is to look at the Metro standings last year. The Capital’s had 33 more goals for than the Flyers last season and allowed 12 fewer goals, yet only finished with 5 more standing points.

I’m not saying this to be negative, I do want improvement and believe we will get it. I just think realistically it doesn’t move the standings needle this year.

Frost deal is good gives him time to prove he’s not useless
- 2Real

Good to lock him up so we can trade him at the deadline along with all the other young players. Their window doesn’t align with our 10 year rebuild.

I'm civil as long as someone is to me.

Others I just continue to ignore for obvious reasons. They don't exist to me.
- MJL

so does that mean you're going to follow your own advice and not harass jd250 every time he posts? or do the rules not apply to you?

every single time he posts you peak your head out and troll him. why can't we give you the same treatment? Why not ignore him?

Do most think around 20 goals and 30+ assists for 50+ points would be a very successful year for Frost?
- NC Flyers Fan

If he can build on last year and be more consistent I would be satisfied, can't just judge on stat line alone.

If he plays well it will be "Yay Morgan!", if he plays poorly it will be "Torts fault", isn't that how it works?

I think being very knowledgeable with stats is beneficial. I think they are merely guidelines for decisions and don’t tell the whole picture but they serve a purpose. There’s too many factors in a fast moving game with a lot of moving parts for certain stats to be the “end all be all”.

Where I’m coming from there are a lot of things statisticians will never see or understand. The microseconds you have to make decisions with the puck, the human (albeit dramatic) element of all pro sports. The personalities… the chemistry… things you can’t plan for… while these all sound wonderous and non-existent on paper they are very real. The drama of human nature makes pro sports interesting.

Someone who only looks at stats sees this and says none of this is real. As someone who has played I say these things are very real.

Have you ever had a guy on your team that performs well but is such a poopty dude in person he drags the entire team down? Or have you been apart of a team where you can’t trust the other players? Those facets appear on the ice in one way or another. I’ve had teams with peak camaraderie that play as if each person was just an extension of each other and we played like a singular unit. There have been teams where you can’t trust guys with the puck for one reason or another and it plays out on the ice in horrible fashion. Yeah Hayes didn’t have a terrible year but sometimes the other things he brings to the table are not worth the trade off. But if you only see a guy as what his stat sheet says you are not getting the full picture.

Whether some like it or not these are people and not robots with Overall #’s attached to them. Having one rotten apple in the bunch, no matter how many points they had, can be detrimental to a team trying to find an identity and grow.

When Hayes got moved I didn’t think “oh god why are they dumping this player with this many points for nothing” … I’m thinking “who is this guy really behind the scenes and what did he do or not do to get moved”

I don’t care if Charles Manson had a 100 point season if he’s gonna convince the rest of the team to murder Sharon Tate

What I would love is if we all pulled our various experiences and knowledge together and talked about the same team we all claim to love with some civility.

With stats/analytics agree. A lot of people just look at the information subjectively instead of objectively. Too many factors to consider

if we can deal him for assets then that's great I doubt he will actually fit into our long term plan unless he magically becomes an all star

imo this is simply a case of the coach not liking him as soon as he was hired. had his mind made up.

Gonna take a chance on her
One bullet in the cylinder
And in a moment of passion
Get the glory like Charles Manson.

Hayes has the size and puck handling skills to be something special, but (in my opinion) doesn’t seem to have the desire to raise his game. Tortorella challenged him to be more and Hayes gave him the cold shoulder. I can understand a coach being annoyed by him.

I just don’t see a big argument to be made with linemates this year so unless Torts is going make Frost start every shift in the d-zone, the coaching and linemate argument won’t work like before. The Flyers are legitimately deeper on wing this year:
TK
Farabee
Tippett
Foerster
Atkinson
Laughton
Allison

Decent call ups too.

Frost should have his chances.

I just have a strong feeling that Foerster is going to be in the mix, probably at the expense of "always hurt" Allison.

You weren’t on. But discussed before. The defense is where the major struggles will be and may negatively impact the offense.

And that will be if Sanheim doesn’t rebound, York doesn’t progress or if they make the mistake of not developing another young puck mover to round it out. We’ll see.

We shall see. I am a bit worried about Allison. He does get hurt quite often. I think that if he gets hurt again, he will do everything he can to hide it from the franchise. Torts put that shot across his bow. He now knows that if he gets hurt, he is done. That can turn out to be pretty dangerous if he feels like he needs to hide a concussion or upper body injury.

Just my 2 cents on that.

Actually it depends on what his usage and deployment is. How much ice time he gets with good players and PP time.

Won’t know until the season starts. But don’t think sanhiem can take provies minutes. York imo will be fine. It’s the supporting cast and lack of number 1 d man.

A lot of people look at stats and don't understand them or how to interpret them. Such as not understanding ice time adjusted stats versus raw counts.

Hayes is a good player but I don't see any skills or traits that would allow him to be something special. He is what he is. He was having a career year offensively and leading the team in scoring. Tortorella then decided the time was right to mess with him. It was a huge mistake by Tortorella that cost the Flyers.
