This is an anonymous website. How I look is neither here nor there for me. Calling me Corky is fine. Nobody in here can say they’ve seen me fly off the handle and I understand the reference. However intentionally and racially attacking me is not okay. Black character names. Talking to me with black slang such as “homie don’t play that” or “you dig” as if I play into a stereotype. Outright saying I remind him of the first black clown, than cowardly denying you’re being racist is beyond ridiculous. He’s a sociopath safe in his own home to say whatever he wants.

This aside, I’m also being called stupid over petty past differences like which era had more or the strongest duos in hockey. If you differ, that’s fine but it’s how you come across.

Before I went to bed last night I had an epiphany. Phillywhiteout last night out of nowhere made this grand standing point that I should be careful about what I say and who I say it to because he’s some sort of CEO of a major company. First that’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard in my life that he would claim this. Second, this board is a fantasy would to most of these people. Maybe, but I still think there’s a level of understanding of some aspects of the sport that you only get by playing the game. Of course I only played club hockey up through the early 80s so my knowledge is more in line with Tort’s view of hockey. After that I played mostly low level men’s league. It was a free for all. No hockey knowledge needed.

When your best bullet is "you never played the game". Well you're just full of crap. Someone with a truly greater knowledge, whether in a broad perspective or a narrow one. Wouldn't do that. They'd respond and point out why something is not correct. The resident trolls can't do that and it frustrates them that they can't do that against someone they don't like. I'm civil as long as someone is to me. When they're not, then they reap what they sow. I can metaphorically "throw hands" with the best of them. There are trolls who have trolled me for years. Some have been confronted and they withered weakly. Others I just continue to ignore for obvious reasons. They don't exist to me.

Exactly: a rebuild doesn't mean dump every vet at the first chance. It means everyone is available for the right return but there's also no rush to trade top players in their primes just for the sake of assets. See if you can gain leverage and, when the time is right, deal from strength.

Have to be honest here: If Torts hadn't been publicly critical of Hayes and DeAngelo -- and made it obvious to everyone that he wanted them gone at all costs -- the Flyers might have gotten at least a little more back in return. Sanheim's contract term made a deal tough anyway, but Torts ripping on him so publicly and seemingly prioritizing him as another player who'd be gone if he had his druthers, certainly didn't help the Flyers' chances of trying to make a trade from anything but a position of weakness.

Sometimes, Torts' candor is a double-edged sword. Moving forward, while he shouldn't -- and almost certainly won't -- totally avoid scathing critiques when he believes they're merited, he should also consider the factor of trying not to tie the GM's hands. Just my opinion.

Said another way, we blame him for diminishing trade value on Hayes and DeAngelo (rightfully so). Should we praise him here for helping this contract come in reasonably?

As you’ve noticed, I get along with MJL and enjoy his point of view. This doesn’t mean I support his borderline harassment of jd250. However, they both don’t seem to call each other names and both seem fine with arguing with each other day in and day out. Sometimes I think both sides enjoy it. It’s hard for me to pass judgement on MJL getting on jd250’s case because of how out of touch he is with this team. Jd250 keeps setting him up and MJL keeps knocking him down. Even a punching bag’s job is to be punched…
