Ok, and Michkov is a healthy scratch in the season opener, suppose you are not concerned about that either?
- jd250

Nope, zero concern.

That's right, they hold the cards and there is nothing the NHL or the IIHF can do about it. And yet we are not concerned?? What they did to Fedotov they can do to *any* Russian player that wants to come to the NHL, and the player or the league has no recourse. Like I said, this should be very alarming to any Flyers fan.

Fedetov did it to himself. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?

Well with no one following any rules in Russia it's very possible Michkov also is not allowed to leave and play in the NHL. I could easily see them force him to sign another contract in the KHL.

I still am glad the Flyers took a chance on drafting him but at this point with the way things are over there, it's very much like the wild Wild West.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Russian players drafted in the next couple years so we should have a good idea how things go if they are able to sign and play in the NHL.

My concern is Couturier & Atkinson getting back on LTIR. Untradeable, no value.
- THE EVIL WITHIN

If couturier becomes tradeable, the Flyers won't trade him.

If you are referring to his military service, he served his 1 year now. There is therefore nothing to stop him from playing in the NHL, or is there?

I saw a quote from his coach which seemed to be saying he’s the 13th forward and he hasn’t earned a full time spot on the team yet. Another guy earned a chance to play so MM sat. Sounds like Torts.

yeah head games early....not concerned at all and in fact I don't even think about at all. When he tries to come here and they stop him will then discuss it.

You are soooo smug!! To say you have no concern at this point is simply ridiculous. I mean, I'm not concerned right now cause he isn't supposed to come over for awhile yet, but to say that this won't be an issue when the time comes is just ridiculous. The Russians do what they want and they listen to no one. This kid's father was found in a pond. I'll believe this kid will play for the Flyers when I see him skating on the ice in the orange and black. Until then I'll remain very very skeptical. Thanks!

Are you saying Russia/Russian Hockey/Putin/whatever is making an example of Fedotov specifically because he tried to evade mandatory military service? I guess I can see that. Still doesn’t make me feel fully confident that all will go well with Michkov

Are there any instances of a star level player being forced to sign a KHL contract after he has met all of his military requirements?

Russian players have been coming over to the NHL for decades.

Since we are making personal remarks, you are soooo ridiculously uninformed and lack any insight, intelligence or knowledge with anything to do with the sport of hockey!

Again, Fedotov is an outlier. He didn't do what he was supposed to do and he then went and signed a KHL deal when he already had signed an NHL deal.

Russian players have been coming over here for decades. One issue with one player at this point in time, does not constitute and change in posture on that. He is three years away from coming over here. I see no reason for concern at this point in time.

He also signed a KHL deal when he already had an NHL deal. The guy just wants to play hockey, anywhere!

It's so utterly ridiculous when you attack my hockey knowledge when it is painfully obvious that I outrank you by miles! You are embarrassing yourself! Carry on clown!

At the level of your last two posts. In that regard, yep, you definitely have me outranked by miles. For me, thankfully so.
