That's right, they hold the cards and there is nothing the NHL or the IIHF can do about it. And yet we are not concerned?? What they did to Fedotov they can do to *any* Russian player that wants to come to the NHL, and the player or the league has no recourse. Like I said, this should be very alarming to any Flyers fan.

Well with no one following any rules in Russia it's very possible Michkov also is not allowed to leave and play in the NHL. I could easily see them force him to sign another contract in the KHL.

I still am glad the Flyers took a chance on drafting him but at this point with the way things are over there, it's very much like the wild Wild West.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Russian players drafted in the next couple years so we should have a good idea how things go if they are able to sign and play in the NHL.

My concern is Couturier & Atkinson getting back on LTIR. Untradeable, no value.

If you are referring to his military service, he served his 1 year now. There is therefore nothing to stop him from playing in the NHL, or is there?

I mean, I'm not concerned right now cause he isn't supposed to come over for awhile yet, but to say that this won't be an issue when the time comes is just ridiculous. The Russians do what they want and they listen to no one. This kid's father was found in a pond. I'll believe this kid will play for the Flyers when I see him skating on the ice in the orange and black. Until then I'll remain very very skeptical. Thanks!

Again, Fedotov is an outlier. He didn't do what he was supposed to do and he then went and signed a KHL deal when he already had signed an NHL deal.
