Yeah I've always kept on on Vilardi because of the Andersson debacle. At this point Vilardi is just a better player. He's better defensively and where he foes to score goals. Not saying Laf can't do that, he just hasn't yet.

I mean of course they don't neeeed him, but would you not say both teams are pretty desperate for a championship? And in Carolina's case, scoring more goals when it matters most? Seems like they're the ones more desperate to make it happen. San jose can wait it out.

I can see Pittsburgh wanting to do it, bring in karlsson for a few years to coincide with Crosby and Malkin's final years

Im just not sure if I see the sense in it for Carolina, they could win the Cup as is for sure

To fit him in they would need to get him down to somewhere around $6.5/7 million.

I would think the plan would require that:

San Jose retains $3 Million
Carolina trades out one of Pesce/Skjei and Jack Drury to SJ. Probably Pesce.
Carolina then trades away Teravainen for futures and then they sign a guy for cheap in Free Agency. Let's say Max Comtois or something.

I think the additions of Bunting and Orlov, along with Seth Jarvis being another year older, a healthy Svechnikov, and something better than a nearly career-worst year out of Teravainen and the Canes are fine.
