Not sure how everyone feels, but I think Wheeler and Gustafson additions are home runs. Gus is very under the radar good player. And wheeler is just the perfect fit for them right now. Pitlick too I guess since I think he’s replacing Mottes role. The rest were whatevs kinda, but depth is great to have as we know. The Leschysynynyn and Carpenter days are over at least haha - Slimtj100
They are all less than a million bucks. Even if they suck I won’t be mad cause they can move on after this year. I know Wheeler is slower and regressing some, but he still put up 55 points last season. For 800k, it’s so ridiculous they got him |

Buyout helped. He would’ve wanted more as a normal UFA I’d think. Gustafson for that price is a steal, his best season was last year under Laviolette since early in his career |

I honestly feel perfectly fine about it. Wheeler and Gust were A+ pickups. Heck, the Caps traded Gust and a 1st for a 23yo Sandin at the deadline. Imagine, with the 2024 draft not expected to be particularly great, we could trade Gust and a 1st for a 23yo stud needing a change of scenery?
Atleast we got some clarity on what Drury was planning all along. While we were all complaining, our feel for the climate in free agency was completely off. I dont think there were many of us ever considering the fact that players would be going for 1 year bridge deals this year to get to the 2024 off-season.
I think maybe the plan here is to not rush the kids, let Cuylle work on his skating some more, but more so to let them all play together in HFD for a year. Build some chemistry between them all. |

Drury did a great job!. Laviolette will have these guys buzzing, attacking and playing sound D. NYR has the talent, goaltending, and now a little more deoth and grit. No more excuses for the players. Now they just have to EAT!!!! (Energy, Attitude, Toughness)
On another note....WTF do yiu think Laviolette said to himself seeing Zibby dancing sround on stage as a DJ.!? LMAO |

I just wonder if it’s taking some time to get a Goodrow trade done, and he’ll eventually be traded. Bonino could fill that role. Just curious why so many guys. Just seems like Goodrow isn’t as important as he was the last few years.
I think if you attach Jones and Goodrow, maybe we can get a RH D prospect? Maybe LA🤔they have an abundance of RHD don’t they? And Goodrow would waive to go there Id think. Idk just seems odd to have SO many NHL players they can use. Idk if they would want a LHD like Jones. To me Gustafson and Harpur are a fine 6-7 D, so Jones would be expendable and RHD is much less plentiful to go to from within in case of injury
Overall something is fishy, I don’t think he’s done. Aside from Laf and Miller, I think a not so blockbuster trade could happen, once FA settles down.
If they attach Jones to Goodrow trade, they’d have almost 5 mill for Tarasenko. I honestly would’nt even care about the return, this would be a trade to free up money for Tarasenko. Just get someone to take Goodrows contract. Some teams value guys like him I think he could be moved. Essentially sacrificing Jones (but he’s too small anyway)
Imo this is our best team possible:
Laf - Zib - Kakko
Panarin - Chytil - Tarasenko
Kreider - Trocheck - Wheeler
Cuylle (ideally) - Bonino - Vesey
Nash/Pitlick one or the other as 13F. I’d prefer Pitlick.
That’s a pretty good crop of forwards. They all take a back seat to the kids now. It’s their time to shine |

Well, the way I see it...
Panarin, Zib, Kakko
Kreider, Chytil, Wheeler
LAF, Trochek, Vesey
Goodrow, Bonino, Pitlick
I could see this being the lineup they start with. |

You can try to wish it into existence all you want, no trade involving Goodrow will get us a net positive return. |

How about Boston for Goodrow? They lost a lot of leadership. They probably could deal with his contract since they lost a lot of players |

Everyone knows the cap situation were in, theres no way a team isnt making us "pay" them to take Goodrow. That would just be horrible management. |

I really don’t see the need to trade him. Cap is going up next year, why lose assets to get rid of him? He’s not hindering us in any way IMO. |

You cant have Laf getting 3rd line minutes, that would be the end of him. We need for him to evolve into a 50 point player this year. |

Trade deadline for what? Where are we improving in the top 9? Is anyone in the top 9 going anywhere? Goodrow to the 4th line for a 3rd liner? Not enough IMO to give up an asset to get rid of him.
Laf Zib Kakko
Panarin Chytil Wheeler
Kreider Trocheck Goodrow
Vesey Bonino X
(Make whatever lines u want, that’s the players that will be on the opening night roster) |

We could sign Tarasenko tho with no additional salary coming back. That’s if Tarasenko would take like 4.5 million. I just don’t think is Drury is done |

I agree. I think Kreider needs to move down, but he can stay on PP1. Laf and Kakko with Zib. Kreider and Trocheck worked well when they played together |

There is probably a 1% chance vlad comes back. He’s signing for big money elsewhere. |

Idk man. Bertuzzi took a one year deal. Seems like guys are willing to wait a year for bigger money |

The Signings:
Wheeler, Quick, Nash: Bad.
Bonino, Belzile, Pitlick, Hollowell, Brouillard, Mackey: indifferent.
Gustafsson: Best signing they made on the day. But probably blocks Jones. So who really knows. |
