The Columbus GM indicated yesterday that they're not doing making moves, and have a goal to take a big step in improvement for next season.

That could be a big part of their request to retain salary on Provorov.

>>> Adding Provorov adds experience to the #CBJ    blue line, but they could still add another in free agency.

Kekalainen: “We’re not done yet. We want to make sure we take a real big step going into next year and this is step one that takes us in that direction.”

I wonder if Babcock came with a list of players he wanted.

Do you think Mitch Marner would be on that list?

Laine told Babs he can't read or write to avoid that situation this time.

Scott Billeck on WGR once again saying UPL, 1st and Krebs for Hellebuyck. Or Levi straight up

Ouch, do I ever hope they pass.

He also said he has no idea what Winnipeg is actually asking for. That's just his guess. He also struggled mightily to pronounce ukko pekka Luukkonen

So they got on there knees to sign Levi, didn't want to block him and probably missed the playoffs this year cause of it to trade him.

Spending an additional 12M would be quite the feat. Prolly not for this year but have a couple RFAs in 24/25 they need to resign.

Fair. I could see WPG asking for that, but that's two top15 picks and a prospect goalie for a rental. Yeesh.

Yeah, that wouldn't make a ton of sense. Levi for Hellbuyck is exactly what WPG would want, but Adams et al don't seem that foolish. If KA was in the hot seat, maybe he makes a knee jerk trade, but it's pretty clear the leash is still slack.

UPL, 13, Krebs/Mitts, 2024 2nd

Hellebuyck, 18

Fwiw I am completely convinced the Sabres are not trading for him

Seems like a random 2nd round pick being thrown in there, but still:

Add Rosen to that trade proposal and washedup would do it in a fraction of a second

Yeah not a chance in hell they'd do that - and they shouldn't

Would any team even give up a 2023 1st round pick, a quality forward NHL prospect, and a young goaltender for Hellebuyck?

Even that seems like a lot.

I would want DeMelo in that deal if that 2nd is there.

Billeck brought up the St. Louis Miller trade which I think is an interesting comp due to their similar contract status

Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from the Buffalo Sabres for Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart, prospect William Carrier, a first-round draft pick in 2015 and a third-round pick in 2016.

Basically a 1st, prospect and 3rd when you whittle out the other pieces

I can't believe we even got that. Dang. Maybe I'm sipping the Kool Aid on the cost of CH.

The goalie market has changed a lot in the last 10 years though.

The Blues clearly had a dire need for a Center to be included in that deal 😂😅

To be serious, sure on the 1st and 3rd, but Carrier was a 2nd round pick.

The Sabres equivalent would be a player like Poltapov, not Krebs.

And Legwand

We got Neuvirth from Halak too.

Lot of goalies moved from that trade
