Funny what happens when a team allows a player to develop. McKenzie had him ranked 18 in his final mock.

Teams were high on him then and the Sabres have been high on him the entire time. But when you're buried and injured in Sweden and don't have the professional size body yet to compete against men, your stock is going to go down publicly. Now all of the sudden he's able to put up points and face the rigors of the physicality of the AHL.

- TheSabresTaco

His size might hold him back from being considered a top prospect by some teams.

Also, what is his role/what kind of player is he in the NHL?

Olofsson type with better defense and more physical engagement?

I can assure you that 31 other teams would like to have Isak Rosen in their pipeline.
- TheSabresTaco

Sure, but that doesn't mean they would all consider him a top prospect, nor would they trade a quality NHL roster player with him as the hingepoint coming from the Sabres.

Probably an Olofsson-esq guy who actually helps you win in all (offensive) situations

Cederqvist might actually be something some day. Have to say I've liked his "big man game" better than Murray's this series. I don't know if Brett is playing injured, but he looks like poope right now.

Well that's fine cause Kyle Okposo is single handedly blocking Murray from ever playing for the sabars

The Matt Grzelcyk idea is pretty decent. Only a year left on his contract though, you probably need some extension assurances unless he could be had for a mid prospect or pick.
- TheSabresTaco

I'd be into that. Joker (half retained) and a 4th for Grysck

Per 89 yesterday, Adams is in talks with St louis and Winnipeg. Pionk and Falk were the names tossed out I believe.

Where would you see them in the Sabres lineup and who/what would the trade be composed of?

Would you like to see Adams acquire multiple Dman?

- washedup20

Pionk would be battling with Lybuskin and joker for 3rd pairing minutes.

Falk would play with power and be a top 4 guy. Problem is his age. He’s 31 already and bad contract.

Pass on both players.

Why would Pionk be on the 3rd pair here when he played nearly 22 minutes a night last season?

He's up there on the wish list. He's apparently got excellent zone entry denial numbers.

I believe Tanev is still at the top but nobody's really sure how available he is given the contract limbo Calgary is in.

He's the ultimate high risk/reward play. He's got exactly as large a sample size of being a top 4 d-man as he does being a pylon.

If the Sabres had any kind of depth on the blue line I would take this gamble.

I like Pionk, he fits the style the Sabres play but is softer than Florida room temperature butter.

Guy averages a 170 hits a year, he not soft as butter.

Absolute black hole on defense. All that offense he provided didn't do poop to help them win while he was on the ice. If you have Dahlin and Power running powerplays..

what would ya say he does here.

- TheSabresTaco

He had 3pts on the PP last year, everything else came at 5vs5

Faulk is a Ozone start machine, he is not the D partner Power needs. I would take Pionk over Faulk

So the Blues want to move their guys more than Adams wants to trade for their guys?

I'd say that would be the correct approach. Those contracts suck and those defensemen are mid. Parayko is great on Krug's contract.

I'll take Parayako or Faulk

Looked like he was injured after a hit behind the net in one of the home games. He came back but wouldn't be surprised if he's banged up.

Kyle Dubas is President of Hockey Ops Pittsburgh

What’s the % chance that Samsanov and Nylander end up in Pittsburgh next season?

Hopefully Karmanos and co are not poached from the Sabres.

Many on twitter think it’s going to be spezza

Pens are still in win now mode, Karmanos has not shown any ability to acquire NHL talent. He is great at building a prospect pipeline, which the pens will need in 3 years after Crosby is done. IMO poaching him doesn’t match their needs.

I'm okay with him blocking Murray, I've moved on to him blocking Cederqvist now.

In all actuality though, the kid's puck retrieval skills would be a big add to this team.
