I just chalk it up to things changing. I doubt all these things are unanimous in the front office. Have to think there's still some people who do have an attachment to UPL.

Levi + UPL seems like an insane risk to me and not the partner a rookie needs or the team deserves.

No they're definitely not, and that many smart ppl things will shift, but the goaltending has felt like a constant for a while now. As you hinted at, it'd be kinda wild for him to bet it all on an unproven tandem when he actually has the opportunity to dramatically improve it.

You know where there’s minimal risk? Doing nothing and always promising that 2 years down the road is going to be the best

Michael’s response was the correct one.

Judging a GM based on inactivity isn’t necessarily correct.

There are moves he could have made, I can also show you several moves that GM’s made the past 12 months that made their teams worse.

We need a top 4 d-man and a proven goalie, time to make your mark.

If the analytics department is worth their weight in paper, they won’t have to move the prospects/picks being thrown around on this thread either to do it.

Analytics wise: they have used them when signing our 1 hit wonders and Comrie.

Heavily used in the prospects in drafting

They admitted that they built out their Analytical System to evaluate for the Draft Prospects initially, then later focused on the build out for existing NHL Players.
These things take some work.

We're always just guessing. Comrie could have been option #8. Think we know he wasn't at the top of their list.

Perhaps not as early as next season, but I definitely am bullish on Peterka being a legitimate top 6 NHL winger.

I don’t think we’ve come close to seeing the best of Quinn, Peterka or Krebs.

Schneider isn't great. If he didn't hit people on occasion they'd be more worried in new york

I personally like Pierre Engvall.

Could run Engvall-Krebs-Okposo as your fourth line but Engvall has the utility to play on lines 2 through 4 in case of injury or potential sophomore slumps.

He’d be my depth add if they even make an addition to the forward ranks.

I can understand a prospect or two not reaching their potential but man does the Rangers development team not have to wear the hat at some point ?

Lafreniere, Kakko, Kravtsov, Schneider, Lundqvist.

Chytil is the only guy who is playing up to his potential.

When it's this poor, it's usually both. Schneider shouldn't have gone in the first round. Probably wouldn't have if his name weren't Braden Schneider.

We updated the Toronto Maple Leafs GM search earlier tonight Insider Trading. More specifically, all signs now point to the search wrapping up in the very near future with Brad Treliving being named as the new GM.

Well you cited his age, but, this isn't some 6th round unrefined project from avangard omsk who still needs to fill out his frame.

The peak age for first rounders, even d-men, is usually anywhere between 21-25. He's well over 100 games in the NHL, and it's not a case like say Drysdale where the team around him is crushing his numbers.

He shouldn't have gone in the first round to begin with, and he hasn't really displayed any top 4 upside in the time that he's played in the AHL or NHL.

Could it still work out? Sure. Should they be worried? Absolutely. I would be, especially if the Sabres gave up Rosen for him.
