Eh.

Krebs has played 130 NHL games. He’s not a prospect. And anyone expecting some wild jump from him will probably be disappointed

Quinn I think is a sure thing to be very good and productive

Peterka I guess counts.

I’m more talking the big 4 first rounders thaf have 0 NHL games

Yet Casey Mitts with 235 games until the 2nd half of this year, a full 100 games more than Peyton was a guy we needed patience with.

See post above.

So, with Cozens, Thompson, Mittelstadt, Skinner, Tuch all absolutely ahead of him in terms of ice time and PP time, where is this big jump coming from?

Edit and Quinn

That's where I think you contradict yourself a bit. I'd be fine if they decide to move him this summer, especially if they think he's going to get stuck as a 4C. If you can use him to go get a D, you can add a 4C fits what this team needs better.
- Lunaion

Agreed, and I like Krebs. I'd have him at 3C to see what he can do.
Open to trading him as you descri Ed.
Kampf is the ideal 4C in FA IMO.

I think Krebs is possibly the odd man out

Hey if he gets me a player that helps are team get better, I am all for using him. But if you are not atleast give him someone capable of cashing some of his passes. That’s basically all I meant. Sabres have the assets and Cap space to basically do what they want, but that's where the nerd crew comes in and says hey we think Krebs or Ostlund is not part of the future.

I think it's either him, JJ, or Mitts. The idea that they see Krebs at 3C over Mitts, Savoie, or Kulich (+ Ostlund soon) is tough to imagine.

I'd be happy with a ~40 pt (15/25) 3C who plays on a defensively reliable line with 200' game linemates.

I think Mitts is a prime candidate to get moved for top 4 Dman in a trade. I'm not saying he should get moved, just that he now has some trade value. With that, there is no guarantee he is in the top 6. (For clarity though, I want him as Cozens LW, so don't be calling me a hater).

I’d be happy too. I also wouldn’t consider a 40 point season a “wild jump”

So honestly it’s getting super confusing where the unreasonable part of my initial post is

Also where this consensus style management breaks down. I'm sure each of these guys have supporters in the org. Easiest approach to make everyone happy is just to keep them all as long as possible.

Well that's where he has to start making the Hard Decisions and is he willing to do it and how far is he willing to take it. Vibes are fantastic but it's time to start handling this team like a Business in some aspects to.

Sounds like loving the shiny new toys a bit too much.

He and Tuch were part of the largest trade the ORG has made in some time.

I'd guess, based on that and their penchant for slow playing young players, that they'll be giving Krebs every chance before unloading him.

How true is the slow playing? I know it's kind of accepted, but look at the 1sts:

Cozens- full time NHL after 1 year
Krebs- NHL regular 2 years after + major injury
Quinn- NHL regular after 2 years, slow growth at every stage
Power- straight to the NHL
Rosen- undersized project pick, clearly hasn't been ready

Seems like most of this is Quinn being probably half a season slow, and I'd say a big part of that was sliding his contract. If they return Savoie and slide Kulich, I'd be shocked.

They dont slow play their prospects at all. It just felt that way because Quinn got hurt after his first call up and they decided against keeping him up + covid and all that.

They like having them graduate together. Quinn and peterka, then Kulich and Rosen. This also lets them dedicate more time to the next group, Neuchev, Nadeau and maybe the 13th pick this year.

I expect it.

Fairly confident Kulich will be here and Rosen will be first call up or 13F

Savoie goes back because of his birth date, but tbh he could use it.

I think Savoie gets his 9 games then gets sent back depending on camp.

I’m thinking Kulich will be here as well

Feels like their love of Greenway and trading Olofsson muddies the picture re: Kulich or Savoie being in the starting lineup, let alone both.

Tage, Skinner, Tuch, Mittelstadt, Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Krebs, Greenway gives you a potential top 9.

Then there's Okposo and needing to trade Olofsson.

Savoie may not get a chance but Kulich will. Olofsson wont be a regular if hes here, Girgensons is likely gone, maybe Jost as well.

Are they going to be willing to concede Greenway to the 4th line, with Donnie pounding his fist for him and all?
