So this week komarov and Johnson. Suddenly our defense depth looks okay.

Now sign Mat Lindgren

- Sabretooth9

It is better for sure, still need to focus on bulking up the RhD...or at least guys who play either side equally as well...equally being the key.

This Johnson signing may allow them to target an older (30+) vet D for a couple years, rather than concentrate on mid-twenties guys for the long term.

With Johnson and Novikov now in the mix, you can take a forward at 13

That was some kind of meandering journey for him.

Curious what was really the cause of the delay or indecision.

Someone else said it, timing seems to indicate he wanted to finish the school year. They just got done. Also knowing that money isn’t a big deal to him, he did it his way. This is very good news, and suck it haters of the pick back then. The forwards you all wanted haven’t done poop

I was actually one of the people who said he was gonna sign, think Taco was the other. And I was the one who said that on Monday or Tuesday when he was supposed to sign he let ex teammates alter his thoughts. That's what I heard. Said he wasn't listening to the right people. Happy he signed, helps us immensely.

Sabres held tight on the 3 year ELC and Johnson wanted 2 and to burn a year this year.

He also wanted to finish school fyi.

So he waited for both

How do Entry-Level Contracts Work?
Players younger than 25 (28 if they are considered a European player) years of age, as of September 15 during the year of their first NHL contract must sign an entry-level contract (ELC).

Entry-level contracts have set limitations:
All ELCs are two-way contracts
The maximum allowable salary is determined by the respective player's draft year. Please see the Maximum Entry-Level Compensation summary for futher details on maximum compensation.

The length of the entry-level contract is also dependent on the player’s age:
18-21 years of age: 3 years
22-23 years of age: 2 years
24 years of age (and up to 27 years of age for European players): 1 year

I said months ago...back in January/February I had him at 75% while many others had himself a goner.
I will say that it was disheartening he didn't sign right after his season was over...but he never said he was walking to FA in August.

I am not in agreement here, especially if their plan is to play him fill time.
No matter how it is tried to be spun, he takes a position away for a young guy. I say that because Savoie should get playing time here to jump start his NHL development process given the reality of his situation.

I do understand what you're saying though.

I have him at 1 of 2 opportunities. Yet, Johnson signing is a much bigger deal IMO...viewed for the long term.

To mitigate, or a better word is optimize the signing would be if Okposo is a rotational player to break Savoie in..preferably at 3RW. That allows Rousek to play 4LW and Greenway at 4RW.

Great take.
Now Johnson or Tage needs to win the MVP trophy during a SC Championship run.

Adams now has plenty of flexibility to do what he wants via draft and free agency.

We don’t need to sign any 1 year wonders on offense or defense this summer.

I’m talking about the Hinostrozas, Clauge, Pysyk, etc. that Adams brought in as fillers

Still going to need a couple NHL capable depth D in Roch, like Clague, Davies, and Priskie this year. Might just be 2 instead of 3.
