I think with Dubas calling the shots in PIT and their pledge to compete for the cup, along with no 2nd or 4th in the draft, maybe the #14 is in play to move down and acquire more draft capital?
- Mr Ricochet

Are you suggesting Dubas may be interested in a veteran type player? That’s the type of move I’d love to see the Hawks make. And that’s exactly what got Chicago into trouble, chasing a cup that they had no realistic chance of getting. If Dubas were to do that he’ll be in serious trouble in two seasons.

Nolan Allen really impressed me. Defensively he got turned around once but quickly recovered, but other than that was solid, positionally and board play. Once he got the puck on his stick, he always made the right play, either off the boards, or I really liked his short outlet passes to his forwards always on the tape.

Korchinski was good also, but nothing he did was exceptional. except some nice setups on the PP

Dach could be Bedards power forward. Very much a straight line player. Uses his size in the corner and getting in front of the net.

Daniel’s name was called a lot. Seemed to have the most trust of all the defenseman by the coach.

Glad you watched last night's game, Jr hockey at its best. First 2 periods were tightly checked and the Pete's goalie Simpson kept his club in the game. 3rd period the thing opened up with speed and skill all over and both goalies making 10 bell saves as the club's traded chances. ..... Great game.

Think your observations are spot on. This is what I was talking about with Allan, that my eyes are just drawn to him as he shows so much poise, his always balanced plus skating and grit. Now he's added solid positioning and excellent outs as he's developed.

Notice those nifty 5 ft passes in his zone under pressure you mention. Many times he reads his support and instead of flipping a pass to a guy who can't do anything with it cuz he's marked he buys an extra 1/2 a second thru body leverage and shielding the puck until his support gets open then smartly hits his mark with a 5 footer that can be handled. All this under pressure.

Kid is developing really nicely. I remember how poor his passing was his draft yr and that is now long gone. He's a good passer now.

I was asked in a post which already drafted forward might be a Hawk next yr. IMO I posted, besides Reichel, that would be Dach, but I think he's a couple yrs away. His game is simple, and like you say he plays in straight lines, no Fancy Dan. Get the puck in, go get it and feed the slot. Get to the front of the net and screen, look for rebounds and cause some chaos. ....... Nice and simple and translate to the highest level.

Viewing Korchinski easy to see his skilled hands, feet and vision. What I like as a 19 yr old is he isn't forcing things which many times leads to mistakes. In a low or no scoring game in the 3rd period he stays calm and poised not making hope plays/passes. For a kid that skilled who can skate it up any time or send a 55ft spring pass that isn't there he chooses instead to wait for a legit chance to open up shows a lot of maturity.

But watching SEA my eyes gravitate to Allan. Love that he's showing improvement, is developing. With his balanced skating and decent hands hoping to see it translate to the offensive zone. Simply getting pucks thru, keeping pucks alive and making smart passes this kid has a real chance at being a 2nd, or even 1st, pairing Dman.

I think Dubas committed to the core, not tearing anything down and competing for the cup. Like you I think that means trouble for PIT. But I think Dubas may wanna straddle the line of competing for a cup and adding some talent thru the draft to a putrid pipeline.

Yes, Dubas may trade that #14 for a middle 6 player or help on defense but he may also, for instance, trade his #14 for the 19th, a 2nd and 3rd rd pick. They do need help on D, would the Hawks have anyone that might interest him? He's not in cap trouble so he has some flexibility and knows the Hawks roster/prospects/draft picks/KD as he looked it over due to the Lafferty trade...... Could go either way but since bringing Dubas in that #14 might be in play.

Unless you are talking about trading for the rights to the RFA then signing him, I think KD will go more for the cap dump with a sweetener attached. Maybe Mantha with a second and Alex Suzdalev. 6’2” 180, 19 yr old and just happened to play on the Regina Pats this past year putting up 86 pts in 66 games. (Yes I just pulled that name out of my ass looking through WSH prospects for a bigger kid).

Combination of cap dump and young player or rfa

Bettman hates the Blackhawks, I bet he’ll let both get involved with other teams. Oh, and there’s no way the Hawks will win the lottery.

We don’t know who wins the game tonight, that is the opening game of the championship for The Holy Grail

Who would have imagined Florida vs Vegas?

Yet who could have imagined how fate plays out in Blackhawks news

We didn’t imagine Korchinski would join with an improved Allen and the other Dach lad (and he isn’t out injured) to possibly win the Memorial Cup

And OMG we never imagined Bedard winds up here like he magicly was blown here to the Windy City. I know I dared to keep saying, Bedard is exactly what we need especially as I feared both Toews and Kane weren’t long to remain pulling on the Indian Head jersey,

So can we just give thanks how the hockey Gods have smiled upon us and know however The Entry Draft and any transactions pan out, it is a glorious time to renew our spirit for better times Blackhawk nation

You should of heard me cheering in my family room 59 when we won the draft. It was the same celebrating i did when the Texans won their last game of the season. Thankful i am, this is going to be a lot of fun going forward 59, no matter how many what ifs the Debbie downer group here keep posting.

Just my take, but the BOD has been generally positive thus far into the KD regime.

We'll see how long this long lavender sniffing period will last.

Allan Walsh is an agent. Some of his biggest clients are (were) Marc-Andre Fleury, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Marty Havlat.

Well i will be the 1st to admit i know nothing of these draft picks other than what other former scouts, fans, reporters write. I'm not like Rico who is passionate about hockey at all levels.

From what I've read he sure sounds like the type of prospect the Blackhawks desire. My screaming is saved for the games when players make dumb mistakes. Not so much last year since we are rebuilding so please get my screaming right.

I will root for every prospect to succeed and trust the Blackhawks draft room.

And if they do draft Halttunen and he puts up 55-60 points a season eventually and is a nightmare to play against, i wouldn't call him a specific need, I'd call him a top 6 power forward wouldn't you

He even has the late birthday, big body, can skate well.

- BetweenTheDots

Nobody better be talking any poop about my boy Halttunen. I'd take him at 19, but since everyone thinks he's dropping, I'd be over the moon to get him at 35.

You need bigger guys to play with Bedard and Nazar, but they have to be able to skate and finish.

Honzek at 19, Haltunnen at 35. As long as that happens, I'll be in a bar on Broadway celebrating on Thursday with everyone else!

First thought was Walsh setting up a negotiation

Second thought was there goes Bettman, helping out the Hawks again. I love me some Bettman
