A lot of people on here did not want Caulfield. DCT was totally against him. Good for him that things have worked out on the Habs but does not mean he would do well as a Canucks.

For a guy who isn't a Hab's fan you sure like to talk about them?

Michkov has declined to come to the draft combine.

Canucks: Why big, intriguing defenceman Dmitri Simashev merits NHL draft consideration
https://theprovince.com/s...witter#Echobox=1685910817

“From my perspective, he’s the best D-man in the draft with a No. 3 (position) upside,” said NHL prospects scout Shane Malloy. “It would not be unreasonable if he produced 35-40 points in his prime NHL years from age 24-30.

“I think of the St. Louis defence core when they won the Cup (2019). He’s one of those players. Rangy, makes a smart first pass, and surprises you with a little bit of offence. His games translates better to the NHL than a majority of the (draft) defenceman.

You talk a lot about Bud Light so must mean you are a big fan of it.

Might be some good cheap free agent deals this summer then.

Michkov might decline to come to NHL entirely. So it would be fitting that AZ drafts him.

As for Simashev he’s very likable. Why he probably will go in top 10.

Combine is a joke. They have already scouted the player 100 times before. The combine lets them ask questions like why can't you do one chin up or what is your favorite type of food.

I’ve heard many GM and scouting staff talk about the interviews at combine that make a difference to their ranking order. The physical performance part is just an extra evaluation to add to the profile.

You would need to see that list of GMs and the results of their selections. I believe Benning was also quoted saying that.

Sounds like cramming for the finals after partying all year.

Do you project the Canucks to not utilize LTR? Pearson and Poolman are done. Let’s think critically

Yeah that too. You’d figure the vet would set the tone, though.

He said he wants to wait until the new ownership is finalized before he decides on term. My guess is they'll throw a pile of money large enough at him to convince him otherwise

How high above the cap are they allowed to go on July 1st? No limit as long as they are compliant on day 1 of the season?

Their free agent signings last year (apart from Kuzmenko of course) weren't too encouraging. I really hope they ship Garland and/or Myers out for cap space, but I'm not holding my breath on that because of the aforementioned low salary cap.

The speed of the Remparts and the solid Defensive structure gave them fits. They also rode Milic waaaay to hard. He looked bagged. Not sure if Ratzlaff was nursing something, but he didn't even get a sniff down the playoff stretch into the tournament.

I thought it was 10% but I’m too lazy to
Check. I’ve read a few articles on their cap situation and essentially after paying their RFA’s and putting Pearson and Poolman on LTR they will be compliant. Unfortunately they can’t improve the team and we know they want a 3C and a top 4 D at a minimum. How the (frank) do they do that? Don’t know, they are a bit (frank)ed. But I think it’s important to note that they technically don’t have to attach assets to move
Bad contracts to be compliant. So they have slightly more leverage in trade discussions

Having OEL and Myers take up 14 mil in cap space and provide -14 mil in value does wonders.

Time to buy out OEL

They can’t afford giving up their next two 1st round picks.
