Nylander scored to tie it up last night but Marner had the gwg in the last game.

Bridgeport Islanders sign Christian Krygier, Jacob Pivonka, & Riley Piercey to AHL contracts

This is probably the way it is going to be with limited cap and draft picks. Trying to find that late bloomer or diamond in the rough.

Right right. I guess the point (no pun intended) is that they had 40 million on 4 guys who had 2 goals. That’s not good enough obviously.
Seeing Dubas screaming from the GM box not being able to control his emotion is a microcosm of the team he built. As isles fans and watching the years of failed GMs it’s time for the leafs to move on from Dubas and Shanny. They couldn’t get it done in an ample amount of time

I would say Dubas losing his mind is more a microcosm of him being acutely aware his job with the Leafs may be in jeopardy. Wondering if we hear something in relation to our team next week now that this series is over. There will be some changes in Toronto. Probably no correlation but who knows.

I bet Dubas and the leafs “agree to part ways” and Dubas goes to Pittsburgh.

In relation to the isles, I feel like Lou’s biggest error which is somewhat grounds for termination, was having about 10 million never play a single game. Seeing that Tyler Bertuzzi was making Bailey money, and throw in Varly not play a single game, and you have misused assets. The PP could have benefited from that 10 million spent elsewhere.

#Isles Insider: All indications are president/GM Lou Lamoriello will be offered a new contract. And Lane Lambert will return as well.

Hopefully it all works out.

Meh he had quite a few missteps far worse then that imo. Most teams have some dead salary. Like I always say GM’ing isn’t an exact science so you never agree with everything but there were quite a few other signings, trades, and assorted other things that were far worse imo.

If what Andrew Gross posted is true, Lou will get more time with the Islanders. Will be interesting to see what Lou does this offseason and the length of contract Lou gets.

Lou is going to continue to go for it until he gets fired like every other club he’s worked for. Trading assets, prospects, sacrifice the future, etc to try and scrape into the post season. That’s unless he does something completely different then anything he’s ever done in his career which I wouldn’t bet on.

I guess making the playoffs got Lou more time. Have to think Lane's staff gets a shakeup. I'm very curious to see how this all plays out.

Just to be clear, you know that Lou was saddled with Bailey (along with Ladd), right? Snow is the one who signed Bailey to a 6-year extension. If you're blaming Lou for not trading Bailey, I would just ask, how many draft picks and prospects should he have given up to unload him?

I’m not sure what your argument here is being that Lou was able to dump Ladd but not Bailey? I guarantee there’s a rebuilding team that would take Baileys 5 million dollar contract. Bailey can still play….Ladd is purely adding salary.

Why the heck would a rebuilding team want Bailey??? Presumably, a rebuilding team would be composed mostly of younger players. Is Bailey going to teach the young guys how to glide around the ice? To avoid contact at every opportunity?

I would be shocked if Lou hadn't tried to unload Bailey. But in all likelihood, he just didn't want to lose any more picks and prospects.

A rebuilding team can’t sign top UFAs and therefor they would take Bailey in order to field a team, much like the isles who couldn’t sign Drury or Gomez and opted for Guerin, Comrie, Fedotenko and Sims…..all re treads who nobody wanted (minus Guerin maybe).
Bailey lost his spot on this team but on a rebuilding/crappy team he can find a spot. Heck he’s been on every line in every position on this team.
We’re gonna find out his value soon enough as I doubt they enter next season with 5 million sitting in the press box every game.

You may find a team willing to take him but I doubt you would find one that wouldn't take advantage of the Isles in doing so. No one was going to just take Bailey for a third rounder or whatever. With one year left, you may find a taker now, but that wasn't as likely prior to this past season

I’m not defending Bailey by any means but the guy can add something to a crappy team. He’s never had a defined role on this team in all his years. I’m sure he can play 2nd line minutes as a set up guy on a team like the coyotes or even the flyers for that matter. Arguing if they could have moved him last season is moot. They will move him somewhere, and I think he’s got some value to someone looking for an assist/set up guy

I hope you turn out to be right. It would be great if the Isles can trade Bailey for a mid-level draft pick. Unfortunately, I think it's more likely that the pick will be going the other way.

If Lou is staying which I assume he is he’ll keep lambert and I’m sure his assistants will be gone. I don’t necessarily think it’s their fault the pp sucked but somebody has to pay for that abortion.

There’s some on here every season that say I’m sure someone will take Bailey and it never happens. Believe me he has been shopped for the last two seasons. Maybe this is our luck year. Also, he proved this season he can’t play anymore.

Even the Defense, many times they looked lost this year. I think most of the issues are on the players, but better coaching can help as well.
