Then show up out of no where for a press conference dressed like he’s doing his best Bill Murray from Caddyshack impersonation.

It'll be interesting to see where he lands (I know he said he wants to take time off, but...yeah, we'll see) and how he does. I feel like he was neither as brilliant as his biggest fans insisted nor as incompetent as his biggest detractors accused him of being. So, I wonder what he'd do (or fail to do) with a fresh start somewhere outside the Toronto circus.

Dubas is so full of it. He wanted more money (per Shanahan). This guy built a team around a PP with no goaltending and no back end. No team should want him.

I'd love to see Snow try and pull his disappearing act for months on end in Toronto when things start going south.

I would give him a shot here. I know it will probably not happen, but he is young, he is able to play the cap game. Did he make some mistakes absolutely. But he was able to survive in a the hockey hot bed. I would give him three years and make Lou President.

He had some flaws but I would give him a shot here. Lets see what he can do with a elite goalie, good defence and a pop gun offense.

I don’t want him but let’s see if he learns from his mistakes and improves on what he did in Toronto wherever he winds up. Maybe the penguins.

I just cannot believe that so many people in hockey refuse to acknowledge how random the game is. Winning is pretty much the worst measure of success if you actually think about it

That idiot Tanner is still at it with the bad takes

STFU! 😂

Honestly a team coming together or peaking at the right time, ( Keaner’s Cats) opponents drawn, extreme goaltending and luck of course can help the stars align. Just ask the President Trophy winners since the 94 Rangers and 2001 Aves.
That said winning multiple cups in close proximity shows success as peaking, luck and good fortune can only last so long.
So I get what Tanner is saying( who I don’t agree with 99% of the time but I get where he’s coming from here.
That said a team winning the cup has to be realized as success however they may not have been the best team.
At the end I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here. It's semantics really.

The season is not a true measure of a champion as you have stated. The season in pro sports allows you an opportunity to advance.

Peaking at the right time and being able to consistently produce usually leads to Championships.

Like them or not, the NE Patriots under Tom Brady, were probably the best team in all of sports at doing this in my lifetime. I’m not a Pats fan but respect what they accomplished.

Like Belicheck, Lou has created a winning culture. It’s not perfect, but he’s instilled the right mindset, and a great base for going forward, regardless who the next GM is. And I think the Isles players have that mindset too. Also like Belicheck, I think he has been good at finding the right player that fits his culture. The difference in my opinion is Belicheck’s ability to take a tarnished player and get them to guy into his culture. But they’re not that much different in their process.

Agree and it certainly helps when you have a player like Brady.

Gawanke, a right shot defenseman that had 20 goals and 25 assists in the American Hockey League last season for 45 points in 68 AHL games with the Manitoba Moose feels he has played well enough to earn a shot at the NHL. Even more frustrating for the youngster is that he feels he has been passed up for those opportunities for those he feels are less deserving.

Anyone know anything about this kid from Winnipeg? Could be what this team needs for a reasonable price.

We must stop keeping score. I wonder if the Leafs went further in the playoffs if his views would change?

No, he's an imbecile. If the Leafs went further in the playoffs it'd be because they're the best team in the history of sports. And if they don't succeed, hockey is a random sport and winning is a poor measure of success

This is what happens when you cannot be honest about your team. I freely admit the Islanders caught some big breaks during Covid and the NHL did not have full seasons. The Islanders still won those playoffs rounds and they were still not good enough to beat Tampa. No excuses.

Who the Leafs lost to seems to make this year’s exit even harder for many of their douchier fans to handle. “But the road was paved for US!”
Panthers beating the Leafs must have Tanner twitching uncontrollably as he grasps for excuses and cries for his mommy. Lollol “The Leafs are still the bestest team ever!” (Stamps his feet and yells to the sky) “It’s all so random!” “The Panthers!??! Nooooooooooo!”
What a childish freaking clown that guy is.

Tanner cares more about having the best analytics than winning when it matters. If it were up to him, they'd play out the regular season and then determine the league champion by some process that only cares about what the analytics say.

Yes, there is a major element of randomness to a playoff tournament and the "best" team on paper doesn't always win. Which is the entire point of sports. It's like he'd just prefer to play the entire season on simulation mode and just gift the Stanley Cup to whatever team (which, in his eyes, is always the Leafs...magically) has the best fancy stats.
