Vancouver Canucks top prospect rankings: No. 5 to No. 1
“Now, we’re into the true top prospects, the top five, which include a new No. 1 overall for the organization.
Among our top five: a deeply promising, young, athletic netminder who has already impressed in limited action at the NHL level; a raw project who is still trying to find consistency in North American professional hockey; a physical defender; a highly-skilled scoring winger coming off of a nightmare campaign; and a potential middle-six centre.
Relative to other perennial non-playoff teams, the Vancouver system remains both shallow and somewhat low-end. There’s work to be done in this area, particularly for a club that’s going to require cheap labour to reach their goals in the years to come.”

Did our Boston blogger make this list?
I would think our two top prospects would start with Hoglander and Rathbone then Silovs . I would add Woo also.
These three are head and shoulders above Raty and Lickher.
Was this list made by Millennials or Gen whatever , anyways couldn't be farther wrong.

Perhaps he thought they were eliminated a few weeks ago because he’s been a no-show pretty much since he arrived. |

Hoggy is no longer a prospect and Rathbone sucks. Agree that Bains and Woo should be top 10 |

Lived in Courtenay for 2 years. Quite nice. Isn't Comox a retirement community now?

It was written by Dayal in the Athletic, Rathbone was in his honourable mentions and Hoglander isn’t a prospect with 141 NHL games played. He just needs to work on his game. |

Raty and Licker are both years away and Klimo is questionable. I will leave Bains until he is more ready. Woo should be called in soon.

Would be good to see Woo, but he's just figuring it out so I could see them leaving him in Abby to continue to build.

My take aka optimists outlook…
Raty ceiling is mid 6 C. Has to up his intensity & use his size & become a 200’ 2-way C. Possibly a 3C. These PO’s & next training camp & AHL season are huge for his development. 4C if he doesn’t develop.
Lekkerimäki top 6 winger ceiling. Become a true sniper & consistently a difference maker. Cannot become a perimeter player that needs to be carried. Has to engage everywhere & not be solely offensive. Needs to go to the AHL & dominate. 2nd liner who cannot disappear very often. 3rd liner is entering bust territory unless we are a contender.
Pettersson 2.0 2nd pair LHD. Shutdown role is his ticket & be very good on break out 1st pass. 3rd pairing is a probable certainty.
Klimovich is a dark horse. Needs to skate & play hard every shift. Let his offence come. Be a menace & show up every shift. Young but time to take at least 1 or more steps if an NHL future. Bottom 6 or if blossoms then mid 6 3rd wheel. 4th liner if not.
Silovs has starter written all over him but should be at least a very good back-up til opportunity arises. Ian Clark is his meal ticket to being a good NHL goalie.
Overall all 5 are depth players that need seasoning in Abby. If they can make Abby a force it is the 1st step. They are in a 2-3 year window to sink or swim. The need for future ELC’s &/or cheap contracts will be their opportunity starting as soon as next season but more like the years right after. Grade is a C+ |

I have to agree with this. Also because of the “education system” in the last 4 decades.
Edit: I can’t believe I just agreed with Yorky - Shuswap Wap
Careful, next thing you know he'll be using his participation ribbon to tie your hair up in a man bun. Then wisping you off on his electric scooter to the nearest kombucha bar. |

But the GM has come out and said there are other ways to build a team besides the draft and a week later he sends two top forty picks out the door.
I don't get why people complain about the prospect pool and applaud the trades sending out draft picks.
I have given up on the draft. Like the Who say "Won't get fooled again". Honestly I am not expecting to draft until the third round this year unless a miracle happens and they win the Lottery.

They said they will call him up this year. What I seen from him I like. The mistakes he use to make regularly seem to be fixed. He is still young but close.

I see Bains passing Hoglander & a Canuck as early as the 2024/25 season. High hockey IQ & very coachable & he learns fast. If that happens he’ll be a huge Indo fan fave in no time & a big inspiration.
Woo is starting to find himself. I just don’t know if a blip or if he’s ready to make big strides yet.
Bones has to look at GRZELCYK as a smaller D man & model his game after him. Get stronger & more efficient away from his net. Has to excel on skating or passing on break outs. 3rd pairing is his best opportunity unless traded to a team he fits in on the 2nd. Bottom feeder type teams like Chicago or Arizona etc. |

About Woo.
The other night when they had McDonaugh on the very first thing I thought was look how young he looks compared to the other players. Woo is even younger. They did a good job of developing him. He will play and it may take one more year but you can see him coming along nicely.
Anyone that thinks Bains has passed Hogs needs to start watching Abby games. It is not even close. I think if he was not an East Indian people would not even notice him. He would be like Focht.
I honestly think at this time the kid with the best shot on Abby to be a NHL player is Silovs.

Just had a look at the standings, with the big 4-1 win tonight, the Canucks could end up tied with 3 other teams, with 77 points.
Maybe the Canucks will end up in the 11-13 spot that I mentioned a few weeks back. Yes this is the prediction that somehow gets twisted by Nightie, to be the 12th spot. |

I think he is a 5/6 Dman when it comes to happen. Don't get me wrong he plays a solid game, I think he will play a few years like a Jordie Benn in his prime.
The thing about young D ready to make a move they need a bit a sheltering. With the Canucks that is hard to find. Who would you get to shelter him? Myers? Bear Briesbois Juulsen? I think this years D almost the entire roster needed sheltering. Almost everyone needs to go.

I laugh. I see this 70 year old woman out jogging by herself quite regularly at six in the morning and at noon all you see is young people on scooters with masks, shades and yes the hair bun.
It is a different time.
