Remember when some didn't want to admit how bad of a coach JC was? That was a fun period on this board....

I still say players play and coaches coach. KD has gone and gotten a different kind of player. They play together and don't quit.

Oh I admittedly thought when they added Fleury, etc they were a playoff contender.
- SteveRain

Although Fleury won the Vezina, I didn't see him having the same type of season behind the Hawks defense. I mean C. Murphy was your second best defenseman. I also saw he forwards were not committed/incapable to playing in the defensive zone. And I didn't think that group of forwards would of been any better defensively under any system, including if Trotz was coaching. how long did it take Trotz to convince Ovi. to play in the defensive zone?

And I appreciate Steve we can discuss this civilly although we do not agree on some things. I value your input and knowledge.

Agree to disagree. Players need to buy in and believe in what they are being told and what system to play.

Hawks didn't go out and find 18 new guys that play better defense and don't leave the slot wide open. Or go chase guys all over the zone. No, that was a JC system that maybe works in whatever beer league in Sweden Bowman found him in, but as we saw didn't' work too well in the NHL

160# players don't do well in the slot.

I'm sure it'll work if you have a very fast team and your defenseman are as skilled with the puck as your forwards.

Kings play that system very well.

No issue with it...we saw it here first hand in the 90s when the Eagle would melt down and go charging anyone and everyone or try and destroy a goal after a playoff OT goal.

The ONLY issue I see is, it would be nice to see somebody call him to carpet and see if he's more Ray Emerey or Rick DiPeitro (spell). If a goalie came charging after me and I am Ryan Hartman, I am kicking his @ss instantly.

Exactly what I told my wife on the couch last night. And if he's going to be an ass I'd love to see if he is in fact man or mouse.

Hey La Hawk Fan,

Certainly both LA Kings but also each of the teams in the Western Conference field an improved, better line up for the playoffs than last season

How far do you think the Kings will go in the playoffs? I realize how far a team advances has much to do with their foe each round - some match ups are harder than others. By that I mean certain opponents are more difficult to beat due to the opponent’s strength or conversely the Kings with a tad coming of age and speed/style may just be making them even a stronger team

Stalock starts tonight for the Blackhawks against the Predators.

Rest of the lineup the same as Tuesday. They’ll give Kaiser a few days to get acclimated.

Reese Johnson was held back in Chicago due to illness, not concussion, but is expected to join the trip eventually.

Players had a very small part in it....the teams he had were a helluva lot more talented then what Richardson is dealing with, and this team coached by him would beat JC's teams 10 out of 10 times.

Reason why JC will never coach again in the NHL unless Bowman surfaces and somehow gets a GM job...then all bets are off.......

The Hawks went from 109 points in 16/17 to 76 points in 17/18. I bet that was the coach, too.....

The first season without #81. That was when the rebuild had to start. They were going nowhere without him.

I get the issue with drafting a Russian. But from what i have watched and read i don't think it would be wise to pass on him. Especially a team like the Hawks that could wait a few years for him to arrive and fully produce. If we are indeed picking between 4-6 and seeings as we need all forward positions i would take a Centre and pick either Will Smith or after reading up more Zach Benson. Build from the middle out
- SaskHawkFan

Don't worry, they're taking him unless they have the 1st or 2nd pick

Preemptive cap management, or something like that. Imagine the haul they would have gotten if they dealt him at the deadline before his contract expired.
