I know many people on this board don't take me seriously, but I just can't help but think that Bettman has some kind of handshake deal with Arizona for playing in a collage arena. It is just too similar to the Penguins situation when Mario took over the team. Plus, Bettman has kept that franchise on life support for so many years that this is finally his way of paying back.

And the Coyotes need a little juice to get them past the May 16 Tempe proposition ballot to start work on their new stadium.

Spent some time watching the top 15 prospects last night after the game. Will Smith really stood out. Ryan Leonard impressed me alot. Deep deep draft i think we will be getting a real nice building block. Would love one of Bedard, Mitchov or Fantelli but the others look pretty decent.

With Tampas pick which should be between 24-32

i would like cause i'm Saskatchewan bias but Kalan Lind would be my pick. or Charlie Stramel if hes still on the board.

Oh, hockey gods, hear my fervent prayer. If the Blackhawks are to only win one more game this year, let it be tonight, against Boston. Amen.

I will next be offering a prayer on May 8th, hockey gods willing.

Solid week shaping up here......

1. Carolina just lost Svechnikov and this is what Waddel gets for being chicken $hit at the deadline. Now all of sudden, NYR likely will get them 1st round and should advance given Carolina's major lack of firepower. Shut down Aho=advance.....From there assuming a young NJ team can get by either NYI, Buff, or Fla...hawks have a very good chance of that Kane 2nd round pick flipping into a 1st.

2. LR is a helluva coach. Can't state it enough....worse roster and he gets so much more out of his team than moronic JC or even King did. Just shows what a bonafide NHL coach can do. Hopefully KD is patient and rewards Richardson the chance to coach a team that is actually built to win and he's not some placeholder for a veteran coach. 100% different vs the Savard scenario

3. Think Marchand may be my most hated player and happy Boston lost....but need to keep our eye on the prize of finishing last to avoid having to draft the Russian kid.

Not a tin foil hat guy but 2 small markets needing some star vs an original 6 franchise coming off a major scandal. Either way people will scream rigged which I just don't see how that happens. More so...karma when it comes to the Hawks?

Outside of Toronto losing, will bring me great job to see the Bruins lose. Exhausted by Mass-holes who think they are gods gift to American sports.

Almost better to have proven NHL scrubs who just mail it in vs a team of young unproven kids trying to make a name for themselves.

Did laugh at Murphy getting his @ss outworked in front of the net on a Boston goal....oh but that locker-room leadership. Invaluable until they show the film and guys like Ian Mitchell wonder why he gets blasted and Captain America gets a free pass.....

He was given the letter under the previous regime. I'd give it to Tyler Johnson instead, but that's beside the point. KD would move him if he could, we all know that. If we're lucky it happens this summer. If Murphy's back is still a recurring problem, that contract is probably until expiration do they part. In the meantime, I'm guessing they won't begin to address letters until post-Toews. Obviously if Kane returns, he gets a letter again.

I don't know how much "blasting" happens from coaches in that locker room. I gather LR's style is spending more time pointing out what his players are doing right. Whatever he's doing, the players seem to be responding to it. I'm pretty bullish on this team's future.

I am as well, and I will be ecstatic the day #5 is no longer here. Deal him by next deadline and retain the same money you did for McCabe....happy trails!!!

My whole point is for young D men making those mistakes it's a learning curve, for a veteran NHLer who has 100% job security...has to be in the back of these kid's heads.

For as much love Murphy gets on this board by his fan club, he is a pretty crap player...at least Jones gives you offense.....to somewhat make up for his brutal D play....what exactly does Murphy bring? That's why they need to sell high before this clown blows himself up trying to run a gun, or getting his face punched in and they are stuck with him on LTIR until his deal plays out.

You still need to ice a team that the fans (sell out last night) would be interested in seeing. Plus I think the tear down is just about over, now it is about building. You will see a lot more of the younger players next year(Vlasic/Phillips/Roos/Reichel/Guttman take on more prominent roles).

I don't think KD is going to take on bad contracts just to get a draft choice. it will have to be the right player that fits into the identity of the new Blackhawks. I do think they will resign Domi as a FA to be a veteran bridge for the next 3 seasons.

- LAHawk

If they keep playing the way they have with LR as coach, plenty of fans will continue to watch them play. The brand of hockey is actually very good even though the record isn't.

The record is probably much better than it should be considering the on ice talent. Effort and smart hockey won last night’s game.

He did make a nice block last night probably saved a goal. Honestly he's better in LR system then any other he's played in, still goes to the boards loses the puck battle then ends up behind his guy going to the net unfortunately, I've also noticed since Murphy is such a bad passer he now basically does a wrist shot to center ice at his own forward so he can just knock it down to his own stick. Which is different but hey whatever works

Nobody wants Murphy, so you can't sell "high". You can't even sell low. Just think, you have 3 more years after this one to complain every day how Murphy needs to be traded. It ain't happening, just like S. Jones is not getting traded. I look forward to hearing you post about Murohy for the next 3 years. And for that reason, KD is not going to buy him out and carry the cap hit for the next 6 years, nor is he going to retain for the next 3, especially when he already has one slot (Mc Cabe) for the next 2.

I got lucky, I don't have to wail about Kubalik anymore because KD was able to get rid of him for free.

Again, sure he's a super nice guy and all that....but truth be told he's just a very average at best hockey player who is likely a bottom pair on a true contender.

I get we need him to hit the floor, and hold a roster spot until the kids are ready....but for all the crap Jones gets, and rightfully so, I am just amazed at how many of his fans on this board come crawling to his defense.

Think it was goal 1 or for Boston he just flatly got outworked and bodied by a smaller player and that just can't happen in front of the net...especially if you supposedly play a "physical" game.

When they finally launch this turd I may throw a parade with ObeseOprah

Oh if they retain 50% they can for sure deal him....the question is IF KD wants to sell low on him at that time. Murphy at 2 million manning a bottom pair for a cup contender is about as attractive as it gets.

If Kimmo Timmonen on 1 leg can get dealt, anyone can.

I'm not a Murphy fan either, but he did make a couple nice plays last night, unfortunately i think we are stuck with him until his final year. I've just accepted it, but am looking forward to the day some young talent comes up and 5 gets less and less minutes

Hear me out.....and this is where maybe I over-value Murphy.

Assuming he isn't brain dead by next February, nobody here thinks if KD retained 50%, a 2.2 cap hit for 2 full years after his trade wouldn't entice a D starved contender? I mean did anyone think McCabe was tradeable this year? this would be the exact same scenario they just did McCabe this deadline.

Looking forward to next year, just think Murphy will be 1 of the few assets KD may be willing to flip and he can still retain on another salary after that as Murphy/McCabe only make up 2 of the 3 allowed.

I am sure he will go bargain bin shopping, give border line top 6 guys 1 year deals and hope with more ice time and better production/play they entice playoff teams.

That's all I am saying. Again, alll assuming 5 stays as healthy as he can. he can only say "NO" to 10 teams....so you have 22 you can work with.......
