Just like he planned it... Montour banks a “pass” high off of the back of Staal’s shoulder right to Barkov’s tape Gotta do what you gotta do to get one past a goalie that is on fire.

Dominic Hasek, 6'1", 185 lbs, athletic, unconventional style. Broke into the NHL at age 26 with 5 games (.914) that season. Next two seasons were .893 (20 gms) and .896 (28 gms), Peaking at ages 29 - 36, 3 years after entering the NHL. Asked out of Buffalo at age 37.

Devon Levi, 6'0", 185 lbs, athletic, unconventional style. Breaking into the NHL at age 21.

Hmmmmm. The development path is written. Let's try to keep in mind Hasek's 1st 3 seaons during this and the next 2 for Levi.

Which means you need a veteran goalie to handle the 1a position in net for 2 seasons.

Upl is not a 1a. Anderson can’t makes the starts. Comrie is also not a 1a.

If you want to develop Levi in the NHL, fine, go get a 1a goalie.

Is KA's plan really to go with Levi and UPL next year? I'm thinking not a chance. Levi and UPL will play this season out together with the Sabres setting up a very competitive fight next year to see which one will be a backup or tandem with possibly Saros or Hart.
If it's really the case KA's plan is to ride the two young guys next year he should be fired immediately and sent to a facility that can rid him of his dreams do come true mentality.
Personally I need results now, can't wait for the I dreamed a dream with Susan Boyle we may see Mr. Adams suggest

I can’t see how anyone with the slightest amount of hockey knowledge thinks that’s a recipe for any amount of success in the NHL.

If you want to roll Levi out as the vibes goalie backup. Ok, seems dumb for a college goalie to bolt right to NHL and not get major playing time in the AHL, but ok, fine….

But to lean on Levi and UPl/Comrie next year. Has to be the dumbest plan ever. You think Dahlin wants to sign up for 8 years of that? That’s just pissing another seasons away.

How does a team that supposedly supports all things analytics, look at UPL, Comrie, and a college rookie in net and say, “good enough”….

I think Terry just needs to sell the team. He will make money on the overall investment. Just get out of the NHL. Go worry about the Bills….

- Gr8daygo

If you look at the performance bonuses for the next 2 seasons of Levi's ELC, it makes you think the AHL is not going to happen.

Agree, but until he proves otherwise. Next 6 or 7 months should get fun

Curious what website you are using that says Gudas has one year left on his current deal.
- kingcong39

Gudas is UFA this offseason. Unless someone makes him a crazy overboard offer, he will remain a Panther.

“When Zito was hired back in September of 2020, the ink was barely dry on his own contact when he offered one to veteran defenseman Radko Gudas.”
“Gudas and his family found South Florida to be a perfect fit for their on-the-go lifestyle that comes with having not one, not two, not three, but four young children.”
“Gudas has consistently provided Florida with sound, well-positioned defensive hockey while adding a physical element and earning a strong reputation as a great leader and teammate in the locker room.”
“ It appears there is interest on the Panthers side to keep Gudas around, based off the comments of General Manager Bill Zito after the Trade Deadline passed.”

Dallas just traded for Cooks from Houston. Does that take them out of the OBJ sweeps

We should get Swayman today and the Bs are on a back to back, coming from Minny. Does it matter?

I still can't understand why Adams didn't get involved in using the Cap as a weapon. Obviously still trying to build through through the draft, I would have taken a few of those. Especially like Zaitsev and that 2nd.
- Buff36

Its fairly simple 36.

Our team is s salary cap team. Working as a 3rd party, adds to the cap. It's a money thing IMO.

Maybe it's an old boys network and KA was excluded from their meetings?

Just looked and I didn't even realize he's top 3 in GAA, top 7 in save % and top 3 in shutouts. Yikes.

I suggested going after him last year when Rask attempted a come back. Would love him. But my guess is the vibes aren’t there because he will “block” Levi. As stupid as that is.

Understand, but don't come out and say you are willing and then don't do it. Especially when a couple of the deals could have added assets for eating some cash until the end ot the year.

So I was away from wifi and a phone on vacation for the last week

I heard we sucked all week and Levi thinks he’s better than Comrie and UPL. I’m fine if Levi thinks this. But I highly highly doubt he is any good from college to the NHL right away. Takes time to adjust

It’s going to happen. Name me a college goalie that needed 0 AHL time to adjust.

I think people are overreacting

At his age Pat Roy was already in the NHL. Just because no has done it doesn't mean it can't be done. If Levi's great maybe he can swim in the NHL. If not, he goes to Rochester and develops like any other goalie.
