Bettman (frank)s us again!!
- LeftCoaster

More like, this entitled group has (frank)ed us, as they have again decided to play better hockey for the last 27 games, for the last 4 seasons straight.

10-15 If they keep the pick which is unlikely.

There’s ZERO chance they move their first round pick!

I have a bad feeling that we are going to see several futures moved to improve the team now...
- Retinalz

It would be moving of futures to get rid of bad contracts only to give out more bad contracts which would disappoint me the most.

I don't mind if you make player for player trades. Or trade away a player for assets and use those assets to get something else.

Team needs to start equalizing what assets go in and out.

Just spent three days in Palm Springs golfing with Mrs. Lefty and friends, now at the airport picking up my dad.

Why would the Canucks bother building through the unproven method of the draft, when the super successful building method is signing unproven or expensive free agents.

Team is the ultimate definition of insanity.

Dream scenario: trade JTM to Pitts/wherever, take those assets and trade for Schmaltz from Arizona. Cost-controlled, younger, nearly PPG right handed center for the second line. Save 2+ mil, aren't anchored into JTM, hopefully keep some assets as well

I don't dislike the idea but to play devils advocate. Nick Schmaltz has 10 hits on the season. Miller has 140 some? You are left with the softest top 9 in the league then, I don't really want to try the TML model for forward group.

Nick Schmaltz also does not play much PK. Only 11 power play points as well but on a weak Arizona PP.

It's pretty well what they tried to do at the TDL but couldn't find a 3rd party.

The only one you could find was from before the season even started?

Allen is dropping. If you could grab him with a late 2nd or early 3rd. Would be great value

Taj

Cupcake schedule.

Even their games against tougher teams are in very favorable conditions.

Leafs and Stars were both playing 3rd game in 4 nights.

Still have games against the Kings and Kraken where those teams will be playing 3rd game in 4 nights and on a back to back.

As I have said, it is how they start next season, but we have to stop making excuses for winning. Canucks had a brutal start at the beginning of the season with a horrible schedule also. We don't make the schedule and should not be blamed for winning.

I don't think we are being fooled by the late push of wins. Most are saying we have seen this before let's see how they do next year.

Exactly, but they do approve the schedule. I’m sure there’s not much room for debate though as it must be a nightmare to try and make 32 teams happy.

Will he be available when Canucks make their 1st selection of the draft, in the 3rd round?

I will be honest; I don't think we will be drafting first round. You have the wrong Pres and GM in place here for draft enthusiasts. I think the sooner we accept that this group is not interested in finishing bottom 10 the less angry we will be.

After seeing the AHL game on Sunday you could see that the roster was made to add back up to the Canucks and not be a pipeline to build the Canucks. Same as I don't think they hang on to Myers until TDL to get picks next year. They will either move him in the summer or decide he is playing well enough now and keep him for the year.

JTM is clearly the better player, not saying Schmaltz is an upgrade. But it's sort of resetting the contracts, making sure JTM isn't an anchor, and giving yourself a bit of flexibility while solidifying a solid 2C. Hopefully with a better roster Schmaltz can get some more points as well.

As for the toughness, hopefully they can trade Garland or Boes this offseason, and have some tougher wingers.
